How to Look More Awake at the Office After a Late Night

Britt Baker
You got home late from seeing your favorite band in concert the night before. You had to clean up from your parents anniversary party after the majority of the guests left. Your flight ran late and you didn't get home until the early hours of the morning. Your son or daughter called you past their curfew needing a ride. There are plenty of reasons you had a late night, but you still, unfortunately, have to get yourself ready to go back to work at the office the next morning. Now, how can you possibly not let your late night known to all your boss and coworkers? How can you conceal your tiredness? Here are some suggestions and tips for looking more awake at the office after having a late night.

First, you should make sure that you at least clean your face, even if you do not have time for a full shower since you were probably hitting the snooze button a few extra times. The facial feature that likely shows your sleep deprivation the most is your eyes. After a late night, there's a good chance you wake up with puffy eyes and dark under eye circles. To reduce the puffiness and dark circles under your eyes, try out an eye cream. Most eye creams that are used to make you look more awake do not take more than a few minutes to work and will brighten your appearance quite a bit! After you rinse of the eye cream, if you still notice too much puffiness or dark circles, consider putting concealer under your eyes. If you wear eye shadow, a light or bright color will also help you to look more awake at the office after having a late night.

Remember, don't use too much makeup, though, or else your office mates will think you put it on while you were half asleep! Another tool you can use to brighten your eyes is an eye brightening pencil, which is applied at the corners of your eyes to make them look brighter and awake. Your eyes are not the only thing to show that you had a late night. You're attitude may show it, too! To fix this, remember to eat a balanced breakfast in the morning and to stretch. Even the littlest bit of exercise will make you feel happier and more awake, since exercise releases endorphins throughout your body, making you happier and more pleasant after having a late night.

Wow, thanks! I'm not much for make-up, and I make sure I have a good breakfast before work, but the eyke-brightening pencil was an eye-opener for me. Great idea! I usually just dab cold water on my eyes to "unbag" the lids, but now I've gotta try your recommendation! Great article!

Excellent tips -- I could have used these back in my [heavier] drinking days when I was younger! LOL
