How to Look Thin, Slim, and Trim

Dressing for a Thinner Image

Quite a few strategies can help you to achieve a sleek and slimmer look without the dreaded tasks of dieting and exercising to trim down to achieve a thinner you. What you wear and how you wear it are two essential avenues to explore if you want to look thinner, slimmer, and trimmer.

Let's tackle the issue of how you wear your clothing. Contrary to the belief that bigger clothing will make you look thinner and disguise the fact that your figure carries a few extra pounds, it actually makes you look larger not slimmer. Wearing a size 14, when in fact you only wear a size 12, might hide the fact that your tummy boasts the same span of inches as your bust. However, it will not make you look sleek and trim, but rather it will make you look like a size 14 at the expense of imaginary pounds.

Equally incorrect is the fallacy that wearing a smaller size will make your physique appear slimmer than it is. Wearing a size smaller than you should, shows off every extra bit of unwanted fat that you have. Rather than presenting a trimmer, thinner, and slimmer you, it presents an image of a woman who needs to learn how to dress properly. The correct clothing size may not take off or hide those extra pounds to create a thinner look, but it certainly won't add any pounds either.

Possibly some of the best advice to looking thinner echoes the words we have often heard in our childhood: stand up straight. With your shoulders pulled back, your head held high, and your back straight as a rod, you will not only appear self-confident, but also thinner, slimmer, and trimmer.

Height, or the illusion of height, will add the extra inches in length rather than width. Consider the fact that if you stretch something out lengthwise, it appears thinner. Stand tall and you will appear slimmer as well.

Now let's look at the issue of what you wear. Create an illusion of slimness with a few easy to follow guidelines that will help to create that desired image of a thinner you.
· Wear medium to high heels to elongate your physique and add length rather than pounds.
· Never wear pleats if the tummy needs to keep itself inconspicuous.
· If the legs and thighs need a slimmer look, then wear narrow cut pants. Baggy pants simply add pounds to your appearance.
· Avoid unsightly bunching up. Wear bias-cut skirts and dresses that provide a smoother fit and a trimmer you.
· Generous thighs can readily be disguised to appear slimmer by wearing a straight skirt or dress that stops at the knee.
· Generous thighs can also be disguised to look thinner by wearing a larger top and very streamlined pants.
· Boatneck tops and dresses, as well as small colorful scarves, will draw the eyes upward and away from the torso and thighs to provide a trimmer image.
· Go for shaped outfits rather than clingy. Clingy outfits do exactly that-cling to every bit of bulge and show it off for everyone to see.

If you want to look thin, slim, and trim, stand up straight, where the correct size, and wear a style that flatters your body shape. Remember to express yourself in the best way possible- hide your shortcomings, show off your assets, and smile!
