How to Look Younger Without Plastic Surgery

Dee Davis
We live in a time where everyone is obsessed with looking young and youthfulness. Many will have surgery to achieve it, and others work out excessively; purchase large quantities of skin care products and are on a keen skin care regiment. Throughout time many cultures around the world have practiced beauty rituals that ancient and modern cultures swear by. There has always been a focus on beauty and looking beautiful. However, the methods used today are extreme and irreversible.

We have had beauty defined for us in the media, and those images usually leave a strong impression on us and who we are. We have also had beauty defined for us in our personal lives. Looking young (or youthfulness) is one of the most coveted things in our modern world, where it seems like "growing old gracefully" is a thing of the past. There are so many options available to us when it comes to altering our look (or physically appearance). However, it is important to realize that there are other natural ways to achieve this.

First and foremost, it's important to use the body to do what it is meant to do. That means staying active! Make a conscious effort to walk more often. If you can walk instead of drive, then do so. It's a great stress reliever and is great for the skin because of the fact that walking increases circulation, which improves the health of the skin. Additionally, avoid sitting for long hours, whether that be in front of the television or at the doctor's office.

Work out, however make it fun! There is nothing worse that wanting to work out, but stressing about the time and physical effort that one must put into it. Work out to your favorite dance style, go swimming regularly if that's what you are into; do what is fun and interesting for you.

Reduce stressors in your life. Negative energy causes a build up of bad chemicals in our bodies. It not only ages us externally, but also internally. Frown lines or lines anywhere on the face add years to our look. Think positively!

Fruits and vegetables are rich in antioxidants ( for example, lemons, onions, leafy vegetables, apples, beat, broccoli, grapes, blue berries, sweet potatoes, tomatoes are great examples of this). These are potent sources of anti-oxidants; great anti-aging foods.

It's important to take time out for you; to be with yourself and not alone; to reflect on or plan the day or schedule your week. If that means getting up a few minutes earlier, it's worth it.

In most countries including North America coffee is the beverage de jour. Ironically enough (despite the small level of caffeine) it is also a good source of antioxidant. Green tea and white tea are also a good source of antioxidants. An occasional glass of red wine doesn't hurt either. It's made from grapes, but it's easy to forget that when sometimes the focus becomes the alcohol in beverage. However, there are non-alcoholic beverages that provide almost the same benefits.

Meditation is also a great way to stay centered, or mentally and physically well. We all know that stress ages us internally and externally. When one is stressed it's difficult to unwind and come down from a hectic day or a negative experience. There are different forms of meditation: walking, sitting, standing and lying meditation. Explore your options, read and choose a technique that is most comfortable for you, because you will find that this is a wonderful way to improve your overall health.

There are personal rewards that come with taking care of one self and going the extra mile to stay healthy inside and out. However, it is important to realize that there are other natural ways to achieve this.
