How to Lose Baby Weight

It is always much easier to put the weight on than to take it off. However, a little motivation goes a long way and maintaining the right mindset is also really important. Therefore, once a woman heals it becomes a bit of a challenge to stay active and get fit in a way that is most effective, because all of your focus becomes about baby. Although these are the common expectations of a good mom (in our culture and world wide), it is important to take care of oneself first so that you can be the good to yourself and everyone else around you; especially your newborn baby. In is important to not only get active, but to also incorporate or make your baby or toddler a part of those activities. In this article I will share some things that worked for me post pregnancy.

BREASTFEED: Breastfeeding is a great way to get rid of the baby bulge almost immediately. It can be quite painful initially, because one can feel the stomach muscles contracting while breastfeeding. In addition, there is a lot of wear and tear on the nipples when feeding on demand. However, there are nipple conditioning creams and sticks sold at most drug stores to help soothe the pain. Moreover, placing a warm or hot towel on the breast or taking a hot shower is great way to also relieve the pain or irritation in that region. More importantly, follow your instincts. Nonetheless, breastfeeding is an effective way to lose most of the flab and baby bulge. Therefore, breastfeed for as long as you can.

EAT HEALTHY SNACKS: If you are breastfeeding it is important to eat well and snack healthy. Therefore, try to focus on eating well, especially snacking well. I find that it's important to eat at least 3 healthy meals daily to keep one's metabolism up. When a woman is breastfeeding, it is important to not only eat a balanced meal, but to make sure that the proportions are reasonable.

WALK, WALK, WALK! Walk for at least 30 minutes daily to and from home. For the first year of my child's life, I walked almost everywhere at least twice daily. This really helped in shedding the baby fat. It is not only a great way to stay active but also a wonderful way to get baby out for some fresh air and to put him or her to sleep.

GET ACTIVE WITH BABY: Get involved in an activity that includes your baby. For me that was joining the family swimming class in my neighborhood when my daughter was about 3 months old. I went swimming approximately 3 to 4 times weekly with my baby. It was not only a great way for me to stay active, but of course baby too.

TAKE NAPS: Take naps and get lots of rest. Initially, it was difficult for me to take naps, because I struggled with getting the baby on a schedule. Therefore naps were short and random, which was very tiresome and also frustrating. However, once I got her on a schedule I was better able to not only get laundry and other household chores done, but also take naps myself, which I found helped greatly in my loosing the baby fat.
