The main source of energy for the brain, heart and many other organs of a body is carbohydrates. The brain cannot use fat as a source of energy; it uses glucose (carbohydrates) as the main source of energy. Also, they aid in muscle strength. Therefore, they are essential for strong, healthy and an active body. Removal of carbohydrates from your diet will definitely lead to weight loss but you will also lose the strength of muscles and lots of energy from your body. The basic key in a low carb diet is to control the level of energy obtained and released by carbohydrates. Actually, to lose weight, a diet with restricted amount of carbohydrates and emphasized source of proteins is essential. In reality, the moderate intake of carbohydrates helps in losing weight as it insists the body to use fats as a source of energy.
There are many types of low carb diets - each with varying amounts of restriction on the types of amounts of carbohydrates. Following a low-carb diet instead of completely eliminating carbohydrates from the diet is sensible. Including things like rice, whole meal bread, grains, starch vegetables and fruits will certainly help you lose weight quickly and easily.
There are two groups of carbohydrates - simple and complex. Simple carbohydrates present in honey or syrup, are absorbed very fast in blood stream, thus leaves you feeling hungry very soon after eating them. So they are not considered very nutritious. This is the reason that experts advice to avoid simple carbs as much as possible and to add complex carbohydrates in your low carb diet.
However, the benefits depend on what foods you eat and how much you eat as a part of your diet. Changing your eating habits such as controlling the consumption of food such as pasta, bread and rice and going for their wholemeal version is beneficial in losing weight. Try to include green vegetables, fruits and high-fiber cereals in diet to provide unsaturated carbohydrates to the body.
To lose weight, a low-carb diet should be complimented with exercise. If you are active, you require a little bit more carbs for energy otherwise your carbs consumption should be about 150mg per day. But a check should be kept so that the level of carbohydrates do not fall much.
