An Easy Guide to Lose Weight for Busy New Mothers

Norah Faith
Just relax, this is a hassle free method to lose all the weight you want and if you're nursing don't worry, you can still lose the weight quickly, safely and easily!

You can eat whatever you want with this method, you just have to cut down on your amounts, and the way to do this is by counting calories. Why put another bite in your mouth if you know it will only do you harm and no good?

It's much easier than you may think. There are many online calorie counters you can join for free or you can download one. fitday offers a free download of a desktop edition. The Daily Plate app is now available on i Phone wow a calorie counter for busy moms on the go! Alternately you could write everything down and add up the calories with a calculator. Once you've found a calorie counting method that works for you, enter all of your info like body weight, age, etc. and how much you want to weigh.

Enter your activity level. Author Heidi Murkoff of the best selling book What to Expect When You're Expecting has stated on her website What to Expect, that breastfeeding mothers burn about five hundred calories a day.So you should eat 500 more calories than what you're calorie counting program says you need since the calorie counting programs I've come across don't offer advice for nursing moms. Please be sure to talk with your doctor before doing any dieting program while nursing. Make sure to continue taking all of your prescribed vitamins you don't have to worry about the calorie content of them. If you notice after one week that you haven't lost any weight try cutting 50 calories and then see if you start to lose weight, if you still haven't started to lose weight, really look at your diet and make sure you are counting absolutely everything you eat. According to fitday a cup of herbal tea with a tablespoon of sugar is 51 calories.Don't cut down on your calories all in one day even if you have been eating 1000 calories more than you needed, doing this will affect your milk supply, rather you should slowly cut back maybe eating fifty calories less a day. So, for example you enter the foods you usually eat on an average day and it adds up to 2800 calories but your calorie program says according to your activity level, weight and size you should eat 2000 calories a day to get down to your desired weight of 120 you would then add an additional 500 calories for nursing so you would need to eat 2500 calories a day. Don't cut back on the extra calories all in one day, cut back a little every couple days or so, as not to affect your milk supply. If your milk supply starts to diminish then you should up your calories so you have enough milk.

Well that is the main thing you need to do to lose weight.

You should also make sure a lot of your diet consists of fruits and vegetables. The week that I had hardly any vegetables and no fruit in my diet I ate the same amount of calories but didn't lose my two pounds for that week, at least I didn't gain any either.

If one of your meals each day is a bowl of soup chock full of vegetables and some sort of protein like chicken you should do well. Most vegetables and fruit are negative calorie foods but are very filling so do try and have some each day you will also have plenty of breast milk.

After you've just had a baby is one of the best times to diet cause your not shocking your body by all of a sudden cutting way down on your calories, you get five hundred more calories then when you're not nursing. If you spend those first six weeks after you have your baby close to home it'll be easy for you to get into the groove of calorie counting it's easy to figure out exactly where all the calories are coming from and the perfect time to start some good habits of eating carefully and well.

Exercise is the other thing you should do a little of to help firm your body. Walking is probably the easiest form of exercise for a mother of a newborn who demands most of your attention . You don't have to strap weights to you but you can strap your baby on in a baby carrier or push him or her along in a stroller. It really worked for me. Babies just love the outdoors!

Please see my article walk your way to a healthy and strong body and heart, for an easy walking program.
