How Losing 15 Pounds Could Have Been Easier

James Neal
I am a 25 year old male, and I recently graduated college. I am a drinker and I definitely love to eat a large variety of foods. However, my new found lack of exercise, age, and dietary habits cause me to put on weight if they are not kept in check. I began to have trouble fitting into my jeans, love handles coming over my sides, and a bagel where my abs used to be.

Summer was coming up and a good friend of mine was about to have her first pool party of the season. I am a rather tall guy and have been fortunate enough not to put on enormous amounts of weight, so my goal was simply to lose about 10-15 pounds and at least get my waistline back.

I had two months to prepare for this pool party, and my first thought was to diet. Sure, I can just watch how many calories I take in, cut back on the soft drinks, and lay off the booze and all will be well. I was wrong. A month went by and I lost a total of maybe 5 pounds and no visible results. Somewhere around this point I panicked.

A new route had to be taken since dietary means were simply not enough for my time frame. It was time to go for old reliable exercise. Exercise was always a last resort in my opinion. I had heard all about the P90X system and the incredible results it can give, so I reluctantly went for their ab ripper video.

Oh my goodness, after doing the ab ripper three times (with a day or two in between each session) I was done with this torture. I felt like all I did was flail around on the living room floor like a fish out of water desperately trying to find my bowl, and in the meantime moaning and crying more than squeamish child at the dentist. I am a tall person and in my experience I have found that other tall people generally have trouble doing sit-ups or any exercise that has us use our lower back as a pivot. After that week I could not take anymore and needed a few days to recover and formulate a new plan.

I knew I was on the right path with exercise, but the P90X ab ripper was just not what I was looking for. I did some online research and found the Core Secrets Ab Assault video. I was delivered from exercise evil to an exercise Eden by comparison. The Core Secrets Ab Assault video is a low impact 20 minute video that got me to sweat but did not leave me in pain afterwards. The video uses a body ball and some light dumbbells, and it gave me very fast results. In two weeks of using this video every other day I lost the other 10 pounds I was looking at (and my love handles with it).

I will admit that I stopped regularly doing the Core Secrets Ab Assault video, but it still allows me to maintain my weight. Whenever I see myself getting just a little too close to chubby, I just throw on the video and do it a couple times now and then, and I maintain my comfortable weight without having to invest large amounts of time and energy into doing so.

I am not trying to pitch this video at all, but it did work for me and may work for others. In my opinion, what worked best for me was admitting I did not like my first video, and I took the time and did the research to find something that was more my style and still gave me the results I was looking for.
