Milkshakes, Diets, and Nutrition, All in One!

When I was a boy growing up, I loved chocolate milkshakes. To me, they always tasted like something made in heaven. In fact, I used to think, "When I grow up and can eat whatever I want, whenever I want, I'm gonna live on chocolate milkshakes - nothin' but chocolate milkshakes."

Now, more than a few years later, I guess I finally realized my boyhood fantasy. That's what I live on: chocolate milkshakes; nothing but chocolate milkshakes. Big ones. Four big chocolate milkshakes a day for at least the last 6 months, and I've never felt better in my life. The only solid food I've tasted was a few meals over the holidays, which, by the way, I really enjoyed. But back to the chocolate milkshakes. No Supersize me here, I lost 15 pounds. at 6-feet tall, 187 pounds, I'm stronger than I have ever been in my life. I can bench press 260 pounds( free weights) for 3 reps, I can sprint almost as fast as I could when I was 17 and played high school football. I just passed my yearly physical with flying colors. My blood pressure is still 110 over 70. No more big grocery bills, just chocolate milkshake bills. I don't mind turning 54 in March at all.

We're not talking McDonald's milkshakes here or even In-N-Out Burger's shakes, but that's the beauty of it. The chocolate shakes I drink are full of nutrition and still taste exactly like the real thing. Each shake is exactly the same. Well, I guess it is a little like McDonald's in that sense but that's it. 660 total calories consisting of 66 grams of protein, 79 grams of complex-carbohydrates, only 7 grams of sugar, and only 5.5 grams of fat. If your thinking, "Oh no, low-fat, low/sugar. It's going to taste just like that all that yucky tasting low-fat/ low sugar ice cream". Don't worry, these shakes taste great. Why?, because the main ingredient in these rich tasting, thick chocolate milkshakes is a thing called Cytogainer, which means it's made by CytoSport, which means it's made by one of the leading sports nutrition products manufacturers in the world, which means that these chocolate milkshakes are light years ahead of anything any ice cream company has on the market in terms of taste. They're chocolate milkshakes. How else would I be able to live on them for 6 months!.

The next ingredient is light soy milk. I used to use non-fat skim milk and I loved the taste of those too, but I wanted to lower the sugar content of the shakes. Every cup of skim milk has 90 calories, which includes 48 calories of sugar (12 grams). Doing the math, making the shakes with skim milk added 96 grams (384 calories) of simple sugars to my diet every day. So I switched to light soy milk. I use Original 8th Continent Light Soy Milk. It has only 50 total calories per cup made up of only 2 grams of sugar and 2 grams of fat. I find that the thicker consistency of soy milk adds to the Chocolate milkshakes richness and thickness and the taste of soy milk, when mixed with Cytosport, seems to enhance the chocolate flavor. You don't notice whatsoever that your drinking soy milk.

Here's the recipe!
In a blender, 4 scoops of CytoSport Chocolate Malt Powder. (It comes in a variety of flavors but I love chocolate).
54 grams of protein, 79 grams of complex-carbohydrates, only 5 grams of sugar, and only 3.5 grams of fat. Calories, 610.

Add 2 cups of Original 8th Continent Light Soy Milk.
12 grams of protein, 0 grams complex-carbohydrates, 2 grams of sugar, and only 2 grams of fat. Calories, 100.
Here is your chocolate milkshake recipe:

Optional: Add 3 packets of Nutrasweet or Splenda and/or water (1/4 cup - 1 cup to taste,) if the shakes are too thick for your taste.

Blend and drink or store in freezer or fridge.

Total calories 710 per chocolate milkshake. So long as you know exactly how many calories your are taking in each day it's really easy to loose or gain. Say you only drink 2 shakes a day. Your taking in 1420 super-nutritious calories.

1 serving of CytoGainer Lean Muscle Maximizer Protein Drink Mix. It's made by CytoSport. You can buy
My own routine is one full chocolate milkshake shake at 6:00 a.m. (660 cal.). 1/2 shake at 9:00 a.m. (store it in the fridge at work), one shake at 12:00 p.m.. 1/2 shake at 2:30 p.m.. One full shake at 7:00 p.m. I never get hungry.

Nobody can stay on this regimen forever but it is a whole lot better than crash diets. I'm six months in and I still look forward to every one of my chocolate milkshakes. This is how I lost those last 15 pounds. But make your own health and nutrition decisions. I'm not recommending I'm just telling you how I did it and giving you the recipe.

A few final points. Don't pay more than $30 for a 6LB container of Cytogainer. Some places want as much as $54. Vitamin World sells it for $29.95 and will usually take products back that customers return, but ask first. Walmart sells Original 8th Continent Light Soy Milk for about $2.50 a 1/2 gallon. Some other places are close to $4.00. This brand of light soy milk also comes in a chocolate flavor. Other light brands come in other flavors like mocha. I take some fiber caps. An adult should get a good amount of fiber every day. Other than that the Cytogainer and soy milk is loaded with vitamins.

If your going to try it, buy the small size of the ingredients to see how you like it.
