How Do I Love My Droid 2 Smartphone? Let Me Count the Ways.

My Droid 2 Smartphone Helps My Writing Business by Letting Me Blog on the Go

I first became smartphone envious when I caught a glimpse of a woman next to me at a birthday dinner party scrolling on her smartphone to check her Facebook page updates.

It was a year or so ago, and I'd just upgraded my ancient flip cell phone with another phone, so it felt too greedy to want a smartphone that could hit Facebook so soon after I'd replaced my ancient phone.

But thank God for such a gracious and giving husband, who one day returned from the Verizon Wirelss store with matching Motorola DROID 2 smartphones, my first and favorite so-called smart phone -- and it was worth ever penny.

Not only can I do the normal stuff like, of course, make phone calls and send texts -- these texts now wonderfully track the conversations I've had with individual people separately.

I can also delve into more smartphone superuser stuff, like recording a video on my Droid 2 while I'm out and about, and uploading it directly to my YouTube account.

Or blogging on my WordPress and Blogger blogs via my Droid 2 phone just by using the apps found in the Droid marketplace.

Or taking pretty pics of my nails by hovering my Droid 2 phone above the swimming pool, and then using those photos to publish across various websites.

My media team at church uses a group text messaging system called GroupMe -- one that allows us to get group text messages through the apps (in a friendlier format -- not just in a string of texts) for those who have smartphones and can download the app.

Things like that showed me just how important smartphones are -- like how I can check my Gmail email or AOL or Yahoo email right on my phone, and even pull up attachments that people send me via email.

And the best part about my favorite smartphone is that it's like having a little internet on you that is just about always available.

When I am traveling somewhere and arrive at a locale with no WiFi -- eegads!!! -- I can usually pull out my trusty Droid 2 and still communicate with my favorite Google search engine to find stuff.

The buttons are good enough, and it's a phone that has taken a few hard drops on the ground and keeps on ticking.

Rarely have I had to remove the battery and put it back in to "unstick" the phone, and only recently did I pull off all the saved videos and photos on my Droid 2 and put them on my computer to see if that would free up some of the stalling I see at times.

I think that helped.

Now that I've gone smartphone, I don't ever want to go back. Whither would I go?
