Despite the potential seriousness of diabetes, it's actually a very manageable condition. In order to properly manage diabetes, one thing that you need to do is pay close attention to your diet and exercise. Aside from limiting the amount of simple carbohydrates that are consumed, it is also important to include an ample amount of fiber in your diet to help off-set the carbs and prevent them from spiking your blood sugar.

Some good, high-fiber choices for you to add to your diet are fruits, whole grains, vegetables, legumes, nuts and seeds. If you are like the large majority of people, who have trouble consuming sufficient amounts of fiber through diet alterations, fiber supplements are a great way to up your fiber intake without the necessity of consuming high-fiber foods.

One terrific fiber supplement, Metamucil, is perfect for helping you reach your fiber goals. Not only can supplementing with Metamucil help you keep your blood-sugar levels stable, but it also has many other health benefits, including the ability to lower cholesterol levels. It also helps you feel full, which can aid in weight loss. The "wonder" ingredient in Metamucil is psyllium, which is a thick, bulk-forming fiber that can work magic on your body.

A1C, or the glycated hemoglobin test, is a blood test that gives the average of what the blood glucose has been over the previous 8-12 weeks. When your A1C is too high, that is when Metamucil's fiber products can really make a difference, especially the psyllium fiber.

In the past, psyllium fiber wasn't too appetizing, and this prevented many people from supplementing with it. Fortunately, with Metamucil's variety of flavors and products, you can incorporate psyllium fiber into your diet without difficulty.

Taking one of Metamucil's many psyllium fiber products, as long as it is used consistently and in conjunction with healthy diet and exercise practices, you and your doctor could be amazed at how much your A1C will have improved in only a few months.
