Plan a Cheap Themed Birthday Party on a Budget

Are you a parent who is gearing up to plan your child's next birthday party? If your child is young, they likely have a favorite television or movie character. In fact, they may want that character to be their birthday theme. For example, if your child is a Spiderman fan, they may wish to have Spiderman themed napkins, plates, cups, and streamers. This is cute, but it can get very costly. How can you lower the cost of having a birthday party theme for kids?

Opt for a Popular Theme

Spiderman was used as an example above. Luckily, Spiderman is one of those birthday themes that has sustained popularity throughout the years. So has Dora the Explorer, Strawberry Shortcake, Winnie the Pooh, and Star Wars. Give your child two or three choices for a birthday party theme. Pick the cheapest and easiest to find supplies. If your child is a fan of a new show or movie, there might not have been time to make a line of party supplies. The easiest to find birthday themes are usually the cheapest to buy.

Price Compare to Find the Best Deals

When it comes to birthday party supplies and birthday party decorations, many parents automatically think of party stores. Yes, they have a large selection of products, but they also usually have higher prices. Discount stores and department stores, like Wal-Mart, have themed birthday party supplies and decorations. The good news? Their prices are lower! It won't hurt to visit your local party store, but first be aware of the competition, their prices, and the selection. Do not pay more than you need to.

Mix Up Party Decorations and Supplies

If planning a party with 20 guests in attendance, you will want to have at least 40 plates available. Many people, especially children, throw away their plates and utensils when finished. Plan on have two for each guest, one plate for snacks or lunch and another for cake. Unfortunately, you could easily pay $4 for one 10-pack of Spiderman paper plates. Right there is $16 and just for the party plates. A good moneysaving measure is to mix it up between themed and solid color plates. Buy two packs of Spiderman plates for $8 and then two packs of solid colored blue or red plates from the dollar store for $2. Do the same for napkins, cups, streamers, and so forth. Mix up the supplies and your guests won't give it a second thought.

Make Use of Your Child's Toys

If your child is a Spiderman fan and wants a Spiderman themed birthday party, take a look around their room. They are likely to have many Spiderman toys. Take a large doll or figurine and use that has table centerpiece. Instead of spending a lot of money on birthday party games, have a few Spiderman toys available. Your small child will love showing of their toys and playing with their friends.
