How I Made Money Working from Home

Deborah Sawran

I began with a great desire to work from the comfort of my own home. I was looking for the freedom to make my own daily schedule for work. I wanted to work when it was the opportune time for me each day, according to my family's needs. I have professional education in the health care field. I also decided to learn from home and get a diploma in medical transcription. I sincerely enjoyed the medical transcription correspondence program.

I also have a great passion for online teaching and course development. I found an interesting opportunity to write a few non-credit courses, and I was able to teach them online. One of my favorite courses that I wrote was a psychology course.

After this successful experience, I worked on a couple of online educational course development projects for credit courses. Also, I was an online instructor for medical assisting courses, which I very much enjoyed. Later, I became an item writer and I wrote appropriate test questions.

My favorite work from home option is freelance writing. I have written several creative blogs and one successful website. I appreciate the opportunity to write about the subjects that I truly enjoy, such as the following: psychology, mental health, medical transcription, organization and time management skills, stress management, medical conditions, and pet care. My Work at Home Job Ideas blog offers helpful information about work-at-home options, such as freelance writing, medical transcription, medical billing, medical coding and more.

When you work from home, it is great if you have the option to make your own schedule. I enjoy choosing the time of day that works best for me to accomplish my tasks. I try to schedule anywhere from one to four hours or more for the research time to prepare for my article writing. Then, I write a rough draft, proofread the draft, type the article onto my computer, proofread and edit if necessary, and then submit my article.

I am trying to use a daily assignment book to write down my ideas for each of my future articles that I want to write. If I focus on one article at a time and thoroughly research the topic, I can usually produce an informative article with good quality. I do my freelance writing in a step-by-step process. If I have some additional time, I can schedule one of the articles on my idea list that may need a little more research. When I am somewhat limited in time, I can choose to write my articles about subjects that I am very familiar with at that time.

There are so many positive advantages to be able to work from home. When you enjoy what you do for a living, it doesn't even seem like work! I want to remain consistent with my freelance writing plan and continue to pursue my goals.
