How to maintain a clean bathroom #1 De-clutter the bathroom
It is easier to keep the bathroom(s) clean if the sink and surrounding area is not cluttered with deodorant, perfume, cologne, shaving foam, and so forth. So instead of placing items that are used on a regular basis around the sink, place them underneath the sink, in the medicine cabinet and in any other storage areas available in the bathroom. They will still be within easy reach. The difference is that they will now be neatly stowed, so that when you are ready to clean, half your time is not spent putting things away. That goes for clothes that are removed. Do not leave them on the bathroom floor. Put them in the laundry basket soon after you have taken a bath or shower. An uncluttered bathroom looks instantly cleaner and more appealing than a bathroom that is full of clutter.
How to maintain a clean bathroom # Change the towel each day
Many people do not know that it is hygienic to change bath and hand towels on a regular basis. A wet towel will hang on the rail until the next day and will become musty smelling after a few days if it is not changed. There is not much point in taking a bath or shower if you are then going to dry off using a dirty towel! If you cannot change the hand and bath towels every day, then at least aim for every other day.
How to maintain a clean bathroom #3 Every little bit helps
If you have multiple bathrooms in your house, keeping them all looking clean can be a headache. But it need not be if you try to clean a little bit each day. Clean the toilet handle and bathroom door handle from the inside and outside, as these are spots where bacteria can breed. Then mop a vinyl floor or vacuum a carpeted floor regularly.
How to maintain a clean bathroom #4 Clean as you go
After you have taken a bath or shower, go over the surface with a cleaning solution, to help prevent the buildup of soap scum and hard water spots. Vinegar can help remove tough stains from the shower head and around the taps, to give a sparkling finish.
How to maintain a clean bathroom #5 Blitz the bathroom all in one go once a week
It is a good idea to follow the first four steps, and then reserve one day every 7-10 days to go over the bathroom a little more thoroughly. Make sure the toilet bowl is clean, as well as around the seat, underneath it and all around the bottom of it. Clean the sink, counter top, mirror, tub, shower and mop the floor. Replace bathroom mats with clean ones once a week and you will have a bathroom you will be proud to show off anyone day of the week!
