How to Maintain High Performance

S. E. Masters
Owning a high performance vehicle is an exciting experience. Most owners who enjoy having a 400 or 500 horsepower machine take pride in ownership and will usually give good care to their prized chariot. However, routine maintenance is required. A dirty air filter can clog critical air flow leading to diminished acceleration and the malfunctioning of vital engine parts. This type of negligence can be costly to the owner. Oil changes, filter, tire and brake replacements, flushing and replenishing other fluids are required in intervals to achieve and maintain maximum performance. Of course, responsible driving habits can help preserve lasting driving pleasure.

Our souls can be likened to a high performance vehicle. James 1:21 (Amplified) says, So get rid of all uncleanness and the rampant outgrowth of wickedness, and in a humble (gentle, modest) spirit receive and welcome the Word which implanted and rooted [in your hearts] contains the power to save your souls. Uncleanness comes in many forms like pornography, lying, gossip, stealing, infidelity, verbal vulgarity, and on and on. As adults we know what are considered unacceptable practices. The sports car driver can become negligent and will have to pay a lot of US mint to get his/her car back to designed form. That can and should be a humbling experience.

Know that the Word of God can become stagnant in our hearts and become useless in fighting the war against sin. Therefore, God expects us to clean up our lives and when we do and confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive our sins, and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Then the spirit in you will perform at a high level on behalf of you, God's prized child.

Make a clean day.
