How to Maintain Your Pedicure

Worried about ruining your pedicure? If so, you're like most women. After you pay a professional to pretty up the roughest part of your body, you don't want any of the work to go to waste - at least not right away. Fortunately, you can maintain your pedicure and give it longevity by actively protecting your feet. Here's how. Just:

1- Get satin sheets.

Enough cannot be said about satin sheets. This type of bedding is very forgiving on hair and skin. Therefore, your first line of defense in caring for a fresh pedicure is to do away with cotton sheets. Their satin counterparts won't pull as much moisture out of the body and; as a result, will keep your feet soft and supple longer.

2- Moisturize your feet daily.

Maintain your pedicure by moisturizing your feet daily. Lotion will prevent (or delay) your skin from cracking and becoming dry. As a result, you can prolong that after-pedicure feel. You know, the one that makes you feel like your floating on a cloud as you walk because your feet don't hurt or feel itchy.

3- Don flip-flops around the house.

Protect the bottom of your feet by wearing flip-flops. You can get colorful ones that go with the plainest housecoat or sexiest lingerie at shops like Havaiana. By keeping the soles of your feet shod on a regular basis, you will lessen the build up of dirt and grime, which will keep your pedicure looking fresh.

4- Wear protective shoes when active.
Active? Maintain your pedicure by wearing protective shoes. You should put on a pair of socks and shoes to play any sport that might cause you to stub a toe or rough house. Protective shoes will prevent you from getting a snag or rubbing off polish prematurely.

5- Ask for base and top coating for your polish.
It goes without saying that every nail shop isn't equal. This fact can affect how long your pedicure lasts. If the one you go to skimps on things like base coating or top coating, ask for it. Both items help your polish last longer. Therefore, when you are showering or applying lotion to your feet, you're less likely to wipe away any color.

Use these five tips and you will maintain your pedicure and make fewer trips to the nail shop. The money you save can be used for something else to enhance your life.
