Managing your businesses incomings, outgoings and cash flow can sometimes be a bit of a business itself, so below are a few titbits of information as to how you can successfully manage your businesses cash flow:

1. Prepare a profit and loss account, ideally at the end of each trading year, so you can see in black and white how your business is doing.

2. Write down everything your business spends and earns, be it keeping a daily or weekly record in a book or online spreadsheet. Just make sure you know who needs paying and when and who's paying you.

3. Work out and keep an eye on both your fixed assets and current assets, this will allow you to see what short term (current assets your business has - such as stock) and what fixed assets your business has - such as property.

4.Produce and keep a balance sheet. This will allow you to see what assets, stocks and debtors your business may have.

5. Keep an eye on your business bank accounts. With fraud and identity theft on the rise its best to keep a close eye on your business bank accounts, to ensure all the figures add up as and when they should.

6. Keep an eye on your clients and customers invoices. For example don't wait until they owe you money, instead send them a gentle reminder just before payment is due to ensure they don't forget to pay, which of course will have an effect on your business cash flow.

7. Speak to a professional, or seeks professional advice or guidance as and when required. For example if you are no good at keeping books and records then get perhaps you should consider taking a book-keeping course or perhaps even getting an accountant to help you out, so then can let you know what your cash flows doing and what it isn't.

8. Produce and keep in place a cash flow forecast - month to month - this will help measure and monitor your businesses cash flow. Examples of cash flow forecasts can be found online and even from banks - in some business bank account start up packs.
