How to Manually Add Ringtones on Your iPhone

Harsh Gupta - Tech Writer
Apple iPhone as you all might be aware of is the new revolutionary mobile phone created by Apple and believe me you will be pleased by the features offered by this revolutionary mobile phone. This eye-catching Smartphone allows you to install third party applications and has a lot of features for the user to play with. But, one thing I disliked about this cool iPhone was that a user has to buy a ringtone from iTunes store and then only the ringtone can be played on the iPhone. Without purchasing the ringtone it was not possible to manually add ringtones on your iPhone.

So, I decided to search on the internet to discover a solution for the same and on some forums I saw a post that mentioned, "The older version of iTunes i.e. version 7.4 had a bug that allowed you to manually add ringtones to your iPhone without having it to be purchased from the iTunes store." I tried doing it but I was unsuccessful in the same. Later on, I discovered software that allows an iPhone user to add ringtones of his/her choice without using iTunes. I got my hand on that software and I was successful in sending ringtones of my choice to my iPhone. I could send any ringtone of any length. Isn't it, cool?

Now, I am going to teach you the way to manually add ringtones to your iPhone by installing an application on your computer. This software work perfectly on windows operating system but I haven't tried it on MAC computers as I don't have one and I think Efiko Soft haven't developed a MAC version for the same. For now, I am going to teach you the way to manually add ringtones to your iPhone by installing an application on your computer. This software work perfectly on windows operating system but I haven't tried it on MAC computers as I don't have one and I think Efiko Soft haven't developed one. Follow the step by step procedure mentioned below to insert customized ringtones in your iPhone. I assume that you have windows operating system installed on your computer.

Step 1: Download the software from the website mentioned below:

After you have downloaded the software, double click the downloaded file to install the application. After the application has been successfully installed on your computer, you will notice the iPhoneRingtoneMaker icon on your desktop. Double click the icon to open the application window. After the iPhoneRingtoneMaker window open up, you will be shown the trial period left if you haven't purchased the software yet.

Step 2: On the top of application window you will notice 2 sections: 'Make a Ringtone' and 'Manage my Ringtones'. By default, it will always show you "Make a Ringtone" but you can select "Manage my Ringtones" if you have already created ringtones and now you want to modify or delete the existing ringtones. You can select any song or already created ringtone by clicking 'Browse Computer' button or 'My Music Folder' and select the desired audio file.

Step 3: Now, you can adjust the playback time for the ringtone. You can also click Go Advanced button to add some effects to your ringtone like fading, increasing the volume of the ringtone and other effects. After you have made the changes, click Create Ringtone button to create the ringtone. After the ringtone has been successfully created, you will notice an option that states, "Send Ringtone to iPhone". Click the same to send the ringtone to the iPhone but make sure that you have connected the iPhone to the computer before doing so.

Note: Although, the software allows you to manually add ringtones on your iPhone but the only limitation I found was that on firmware 1.1.2 there was an issue. The issue was that when you will connect your iPhone to iTunes and synchronize your iPhone, the ringtones that you installed manually will vanish away from your iPhone and you will have to repeat the process again.

This was the only limitation I could found. However, It might be possible that this issue isn't present with 1.1.3 and 1.1.4 firmware version.
