How Many Email Accounts Do You Have?

After so many days of hum drum, or zero messages in any of my four of email accounts, it's almost like a Christmas package of new and interesting stuff, today.

Back in the newbie days, I acquired a Yahoo! email account; it was the only name brand I had ever heard of. Now it's like a comfortable old shoe, occasional glitches and all.

What's in there? There are the usual comment notifications sent by "Yahoo! from Associated Content." I like these because of the familiar people who are so nice to see when I click the link.

The other new stuff:

Oprah Winfrey's new show "Own" is announced. She is such an interesting person. I like her even though she's never invited me to be on her show.

I love the faithful correspondence from Senator Sherrod Brown. He has such a nice personality, but I don't agree with many of his voting decisions.

Of the interesting "everyday" people, I get notices from a Facebook friend on how to buy American made products. It saves me a lot of work searching when I want to buy American.

Close that mailbox and go to the next email account.

Now, I am at the Gmail account. Twitter, Elsa, Elsa astrology news, and various political topics arrive in this one. Issues about Net Neutrality and other "change the world" starry eyed idealists send stuff regularly. Gmail is also the one that receives all of the scientific news.

Move on to the Windows Live email account which is a favorite one.

Not sure, but I believe Windows live is a different name for Hotmail. For those who prefer not to reveal whether they're hot or not, we may simply be alive.

Today, in this email account, I received a subscription announcing all new material about Indian Mounds, UFO's, and myriad off beat topics that I love. This one has special significance because it's published by Brent Raynes, an acquaintance from long ago.

Out of hundreds of thousands of articles, he found my page on Associated Content last year. I subscribed to his Ezine, "Alternate Perceptions," immediately.

Other interests in the Windows Live account are Seth Godin's newsletter. He has a sort of cosmic philosophy about the Internet. Another title is SouledOut. And yet another is called Reality Sandwich, which I don't think of as being very realistic.

Why is Windows Live such a favorite for me? It's because of how easy it is to clean up the messages with the new "sweep" feature.

The way the Windows Live "sweep" function works is that, once an email is opened, just click sweep. All of those messages from that particular sender go into a designated folder with one click. Voila.

By the way, I don't like those packages that combine all of the email accounts into one. What I found was that it takes forever to load, and in general had too many glitches.

There is an explanation for keeping all of these email accounts. One reason includes sentimentality, which is probably also the cause of three out of four of these email accounts being disorganized - but that's life in the virtual world.
