How to Max Your Archery Skill in Ultima Online

Learn how to raise your archery skill to 120 (legendary) level without having to run around, kite or even fight monsters. Use the best and most current strategies you can get to 120 in any archery skill in Ultima Online in days not years. This is the best method to raise archery and once you have maxed your skill you will have time to explore, pvp (player vs. player) and delve into dungeons.

If your character already has skills over 350 skill points, use a soul stone to stay under 350 skill points while you are training to take full advantage of the guaranteed gain system. Also, if you use a power scroll it changes the curve for skill gains and creatures will stay in the range you need to raise skill longer.

The Ultimate Archery Method

Seek out prey that is close to your character's fighting skill in order to gain. A good rule of thumb is that a monster should be no more than 10 points higher or lower than the character in order to get good gains. If you have used a power scroll, creatures will stay in your range for archery skill gains longer

0-30 Buy skill

30-50 Undead in New Haven

50-70 Corpsers in Covetous

70-120 Golems or Ratmen Archers for free arrows

When you are ready to leave New Haven, head to the Dungeon of Covetous. The corpsers are on the first level of covetous in the very back. The advantage of fighting corpsers in covetous is that you will not have to seek out new monsters and you won't have to move or heal.

You can kill the harpies in Covetous for feathers and the corpsers for logs. With arrows and bolts costing at least 25 gold each on most shards it makes sense to get your arrows and bolts for free. If your character is human, you will be able to make arrows and bolts even without the fletching skill due to the Jack of All Trades racial ability. Make sure that you always carry a fletcher's tool kit for repairs and making arrows and bolts as you need them. Later on, you can go to the Shrine of Sacrifice in Ilshenar, work your way north and west along the mountains to the ruins where the ratmen are and kill ratmen archers. Each ratman archer will drop 500-600 gold and 75 arrows but beware of paragons!

The benefit to the golem method is that it is an easy way to get 120 skill without having to move around, take damage or hunt for prey. Once you have gotten to 70 skill fighting corpsers in Covetous, you are ready to start working with a tinker crafted golem.

To get a tinker crafted golem, you will need to have a tinker with at least 70 skill in tinkering create one for you, most charge about 50,000 gold for components. The components you need are: 1 clockwork assembly, 1 power crystal, 50 iron ingots, 50 bronze ingots and 5 gears. The clockwork assembly and power crystal are found on golems and clockwork monsters in Ilshenar near Blackthorn's Castle or the Exodus Dungeon.

Use 100% poison damage archery weapon. Golems are immune to poison so a 100% poison damage weapon does no damage to them. You must be in a guild for the golem method to work.

Once you have your golem and 100% poison archery weapon ready, command the golem to guard, stop and stay. Watch and make sure that the golem does not follow you and stand back. After you give the commands your golem should stand still and not hit you, allowing you to raise archery without getting hit or having to run. You can also set up a macro to tell your golem to stop, guard and stay so that it stays green and allows you to continuously gain skill.

A sample macro for archery skill gain would be like this:
