How to Maximize Your Google Adsense Earnings on Niche Blogs

Marilisa Kinney Sachteleben
I've written before about niche blogging and utilizing Google Adsense to make money. By creating and maintaining niche (specific content area) blogs and allowing Google Adsense to place adds, I've more than doubled my online article writing income. Here are tips for most effectively using Google Adsense advertising on your blogs.

First, burn all your Google Adsense blog feeds with www.feedburner.com. It's very easy to set up a Feedburner account and manage your blogs. Feedburner will guide you through the simple process of adding 'Feed Flare' to the HTML page of your blog. Enabling Feedburner Feed Flare allows you to take full advantage of ping services, Twitter, Facebook, Stumble Upon, Digg and other subscriber connections. After completing this step, transfer the advertisement management of your blog feeds to Google Adsense.

On the Blogger Dashboard, manage the advertisements from the 'Monetize' tab. Enable Google Adsense for feeds and sidebar gadgets. Then, on the 'Layout' tab, choose advertisement size, shape, color and configuration with the 'Add a Gadget' function. Using your mouse to click and drag, place your advertisements on your blog as desired. You will also want to click 'Edit' on the Blog Posts window of the 'Layout' page. Make sure that the 'Show Ads between Posts' box is checked.

Along with Blog feed ads and ads between posts, I use 'Leaderboard' advertisements on my blogs, which is a horizontal band of ads that runs across the top of my blog under the blog title. I like leaderboard advertisements because viewers see these ads immediately, even if they do not scroll down into my blog. Note, Google Adsense allows you to place a maximum three Adsense boxes on your blog. This sometimes affects my Sidebar ad visibility, so I move side bar advertisements to the bottom of the page, just in case my side bar ads don't show.

Enable Google Adsense Analytics on your blogs, to access Adsense and blog statistics and user demographics. Check your Google Analytics account, accessible from your Google Adsense account page. Google Analytics will help you identify and fix any problems that occur with your blog. Google Analytics helps you to track keywords and viewer trends.

I've been running adsense on my blogs but not earning much, but I don't update them as frequently as I should. I just added analytics to the mix and anxious to see how it works. Thanks for the info.
