The Mazda Miata is no exception. The Miata is a two-door sports car available as a hard top or convertible. It also comes in either an automatic or manual transmission as well as different engine sizes and feature packages. Test drives also give buyers the opportunity to get a feel for the car's handling and ask the dealer questions without sales pressure.
Locate a local Mazda dealership. Visit the Mazda website listed at the end of this article to find a dealership near you.
Contact the nearest Mazda dealership and tell them that you want to test drive a Miata. Calling ahead allows you to verify if the dealer has a Miata in stock and make an appointment if required.
Present your valid driver's license and a credit card to the dealer upon arrival. Some dealers may require a credit card as collateral when taking the Miata out for a drive or simply as an additional form of identification.
Fill out a test drive form if requested to do so. Some dealers may require you to sign a release form indicating that you are legal to drive and the dealer accepts no responsibility for any injury due to the test drive.
Choose manual or automatic based on your driving preference. If the sales representative sends you out alone, be sure to follow his instructions and preferred route for test drives. Some dealers may have a closed test drive course; follow all posted rules on the course. Do not choose a manual if you have no experience with a manual transmission.
Remember that a test drive is not an agreement to purchase the Miata. Dealers offer no strings attached test drives.
Always wear your seat belt and follow all instructions from the dealer while taking the car out for a test drive. In addition, be sure to follow all local road and traffic signs, regulations, and laws. You must have a valid license in order to test drive any vehicle.
