How Do Men Flirt?

Flirting is a way for someone to tell you they are interested in you without saying it outright. Not all signs of flirting are as obvious as others. When men flirt, either we tend to convey what we mean in a subtle manner, or we say what we mean outright. Understanding these common flirting signs will help you determine if he is flirting, or just being nice.

Eye Contact

Eye contact may seem like a tell tale sign of flirting, but it may not be that obvious. Confident guys have no problem making eye contact for extended periods. Guys who are shy, however, have more of a difficult time of making eye contact. When he is trying to flirt with you, he will attempt to make eye contact for as long as he can.

Physical Contact

A sure sign that he is flirting is if he makes physical contact. This may include holding your hand, putting his arm around you, or moving in close so his shoulder touches yours. Physical contact is his way of getting close to you and seeing if you will respond to his advances. If you like him, be sure to reciprocate the physical contact, as long as you feel comfortable. Guys who are forward may take the physical contact too far. If this is the case, let him know your boundaries. The reason he uses physical contact? As a guy, I have used this approach to test how comfortable the woman I am flirting with is with me. If she reciprocates, this is a good sign she is interested.

Raises His Eyebrows

Raised eyebrows means that he is interested, or at least pretending to be interested in what you are saying. This sign of flirting is easy to recognize, and is natural rather than voluntary.

Compliments You

My favorite way of flirting with a woman is through using compliments. When he compliments what you are wearing, your sense of style, or your humor, then he is attempting to flirt. If he is genuine, he will pursue you; however, if this is just a pickup line, he will stop talking to you when you leave the conversation. If he is genuine, he will attempt to talk and compliment you during the time he is with you.

Does He Tease You?

Guys use teasing to break down a girls personal barrier and to make light of whatever situation you two are in. I use this technique to gauge how comfortable she is with me, and her sense of humor. If she responds by laughing and joking about the situation, I can tell she is flirting back. However, if her facial expressions are emotionless and she does not respond to the teasing, we will stop flirting.
