The first thing you will need to do is gather all your supplies that you will need to make your menorah. You will need a circular saw, wooden deck post, glue made for wood, primer caster cup spray paint, round glass votive candle holders with one being bigger than the others, and votive candles. You need to saw the end of the deck post in order to make a flat base so that the menorah will sit properly on the table and then mark nine evenly spaced sections on the wooden post. Using your wood glue, glue the caster cups to each of the nine points, but make sure you leave the middle point free so be sure to not glue a caster cup to the middle point. Apply the primer to the wooden post and then spray paint the wood and caster cups, you can use any color for this but a neutral color works the best. You need to allow the primer and spray paint to dry for at least 12 hours to ensure the best quality for your menorah. Once the paint is dry you can then add the biggest of the votive candle holders to the middle of the wooden post. Add your smaller votive candle holders to each side of the wooden post, placing them in the caster cups. The final step in this process to make a menorah is to add the candles to the candle holders and then light them.
This is a very simple and easy way to make a menorah and the materials you can get at a retail store for about 20 dollars. If you are looking for a simple way to make a menorah, then using these items would be one of the best ideas or you could also ask your family to see if they have the votive candles and candle holders so that you do not have to spend the money on these items. In a time of economic uncertainty, sometimes making your own menorah for Hanukkah is better than going out to a store and buying a menorah already made.
