How to Make Your Menus on Your Computer Load Faster by Modifying the Registry

C. O.
Yes, it's time where we modify the registry to improve the performance of our system. This little mod allows the menus on your computer to pop up almost instantly without any delay. This is really great when you have to go through many folders trying to search for files you have lost or misplaced. It can get annoying at times when you click open one folder only to have to wait a few more seconds to see the folder's contents. This may not be that big a deal but when you are constantly opening up multiple folders those seconds can add up pretty quick. Don't worry about messing up your system, if you follow these steps closely you will have nothing to worry about, so lets begin. Before you try out this little tweak you need to do two things first. First, make a backup of your registry files so just in case you modify a wrong file or something along those lines, you will be able to fix this mistake easily by importing your backed up registry. Finally, just as a secondary precaution make a system restore point so if something was to go wrong you can restore your computer with that restore point. Once you have done either, if not both of these precautions then proceed to step number one.

1.)Click on start then click on run

2.)In the run box type regedit and click ok

3.)This will open the registry editor window and from here you need to keep expanding boxes until you reach the Desktop directory by using this route to get there: HKEY_CURRENT_USERControl PanelDesktop

4.)Once you get to the Desktop directory click on it and on the right side of the window a bunch of text with variables will appear.

5.)First find the text called MenuShowDelay and right click on it and select modify and change it to 60 and your finished

Now when you start clicking on menus and searching though your folders you shouldn't haven't as much or no delay while browsing through your files. This will make it that much more faster and less irritating when your searching for an import file that you have misplaced. You could also change the number of the MenuShowDelay to a lower number to make it pop up faster, but just test lower settings and see which ones you would like to keep for default.
