A smile can surely brighten up anyone's day. It is a simple gesture that can make a big and positive difference in your life no matter what you do. A perfect smile can take you places and meet all the right people.

But there are certain things that can ruin a smile. It is sad to say that not all of us have been gifted with a perfect set of teeth. Some of us may have abnormal teeth spacing and other teeth deformities brought about by our genes, some of us may have been involved in some kind of accident that have caused teeth abnormalities and some of us have just worn out our enamels due to smoking, eating, drinking and aging which is the most inevitable.

The second is the use of dental fillings. This procedure is used to treat decayed or damaged teeth. Nowadays, fillings are composed of material such as porcelain and other materials that closely resembles your natural teeth color, unlike before when gold and amalgam were used which treats the decay but appears as dark spots on your teeth. These light cure dental fillings usually last for three years.

The third procedure is bonding wherein a dental composite material is sculpted, shaped and polished to simply hide teeth cracks and chips.

The fourth procedure is dental veneer where porcelain and plastic laminates are bonded to worn out or damaged enamel. The effect is a natural and perfect smile. This type of procedure lasts up to 15 years with good and regular oral hygiene.

The last procedure is dental implants. These are composed of natural looking replacements for the worn out teeth and performs the same functions as that of the natural teeth. These implants create a more youthful and natural look. This procedure however can take a long time. Estimated length of time is usually 3 to 12 months depending on the healing phase of the patient.

With the following procedures offered by the world of cosmetic dentistry, we can now all have a reason to smile and have hope to having the perfect set of teeth.
