How to Make a Mini Pumpkin Wreath

Aida Shallcross
Wreaths are not just for Christmas anymore! Making a mini pumpkin wreath is easy, inexpensive, and leaves your home feeling festive and welcoming. Here's a very simple fall-themed wreath you can make in no time.

Materials (you can pick up all of these items at a craft store):

-wreath frame made of twigs (look for one that has a fairly flat top all around)

-glue gun or sticks of crafter's glue

-set of artificial mini pumpkins

-3 yards of wide black ribbon

Instructions

1. Lay your wreath down on a flat, clean surface. To help avoid a mess, you can lay down some newspaper first.

2. Arrange the pumpkins on the wreath in the manner that you'll want your end result. By doing this, you can get a good idea of how many pumpkins will fit on the wreath before you begin attaching them. Make sure to leave a few inches of space at the top for your bow.

3. Add glue to the bottom of each pumpkin (and do so generously) and apply to the wreath, pressing down hard. Let the arrangement dry for about 10 minutes.

4. After you're sure the pumpkins are secure, tie your ribbon to the top of the wreath. You can pretty much tie this ribbon in any way you like, and can even use the ribbon itself for hanging your wreath. You can also use a long nail or wreath hanger to display your wreath.

You can also add some embellishments like 'cobwebs' that you can pick up from your craft store, and little plastic spiders you can spread throughout. And you can also decorate the pumpkins themselves with things like glitter and paint if you want to. And small rubber bats are also fun to hang from the bottom of your wreath using some black thread.

Note that artificial pumpkins are used in this craft. You could use real live mini pumpkins, but these will most likely rot after just a few weeks of being exposed to the outdoors and possibly sunlight.

A wreath is the perfect decoration for your front door, but remember that you could use one anywhere, including on the inside of your door, on a fireplace mantel, on a back door, in a foyer, etc. The possibilities are endless. And when they're this affordable and easy to make, it's easy to add a little zing to your whole house. It's time to get your guests talking!
