How to Make Monday Better

Ways to Prevent Monday from Sucking so Badly

Christina Majaski
If you're one of the millions of people who sit at home Sunday night dreading Monday because well, everyone knows Mondays pretty much suck, you may be interested in a few ways that might make Monday better. Or at least Sunday night a little less stressful.

Monday Sucks Because You Goofed Around on Friday

Yes, I have realized from personal experience that I spend so much time hooraying and TGIF-ing on Friday that I don't get much work done. Thus, Monday morning is destined to suck before I even get there because my desk is overflowing with work that I probably could've eliminated or at least put a dent into on Friday. If possible, get caught up on the work Friday and then celebrate, but don't leave all of it for Monday.

Pack a Fantastic Monday Lunch

Maybe it's just me, but similar to my elementary school days, I look forward to lunch. If I have a really good lunch prepared for Monday, it doesn't make Monday seem so bad. In fact, sometimes I even look forward to Mondays if I have the right lunch. If your lunches look like these though, you're pretty much doomed every day. Not just Mondays.

Plan a Feel Good Monday Outfit

This works for me also on Sunday nights, if I have an idea of a rocking outfit to wear to work that I'll feel good in, it's a little easier to fact the beginning of the week. Trust me, Mondays are a bazillion times worse if you're dragging yourself into the office with your hair half brushed and wearing the brown loafer/Hush Puppies shoes you hate only because you couldn't find two of any other shoe. Planning your outfit will also prevent you from getting to work Monday and realizing your sweater has a hole in it or your pants are dirty. These mishaps only make Monday suck worse.

Get a Good Night's Rest Sunday

Nothing and I mean nothing, makes Monday morning worse than not getting enough sleep. Monday hangovers also maximize the Monday suck factor, so skip the drinking and partying on Sunday nights and save that for another night that doesn't preface Monday. You may think this makes Sundays better (and it does) but you'll pay for it tenfold in Monday morning agony.

Mondays may always be crappy because it's just Monday and Friday seems so far away that you wonder if you'll make it. Find something that occurs on Monday to look forward to. Take a second to try out some of these ideas and maybe your Monday can at least be bearable. Or it won't, but at the very least you'll have a great lunch.

Happy Monday!
