How to Make Money as a Magician

If you enjoy entertaining kids, and would like to make some extra money, you might want to consider starting your own business as a kid's birthday party magician.

As there aren't many party magicians available for all of the kids' parties who may enjoy this type of entertainment, you will likely be able to find plenty of work as a magician. By word of mouth and plenty of advertising, you could have more work than you can even handle as a one-man show. You can charge $50 to $100 dollars per party, and with just a couple of parties a day, you could make a decent amount of cash from this line of work.

Start-up costs for a kid's party magician should be minimal. A few costumes and your magic equipment shouldn't run more than a few hundred dollars. You also may have some advertising costs, unless you will be relying solely on word-of-mouth to gain your customers. You may also have costs associated with training if being a magician is new to you.

You will need some training in magic tricks and showman skills if you do not know these things already. It is possible to find a mentor to train you if you look hard. You can call other magicians and ask them to train you. It's unlikely that you'll find someone who will be willing , as you will be their competition, but you won't know unless you try. You might have better luck asking someone out of your own area. You can offer to work as an assistant in exchange for some training.

There are also training videos, manuals, and books you can purchase on how to do magic tricks for kid's parties. Kits can even be found at party stores or shops. You may also be able to take classes where they are available at local universities or colleges. You may also want to consider performing for your friends kid's parties for free to get some experience when you are first starting out.

As a magician, you don't have to just stick to kid's birthday parties. Adults enjoy this sort of entertainment too. You can also charge more for an adult's party as well. You can also approach night clubs about doing a show. They might be interested, especially for their slower nights to draw in more customers. They might not be willing to pay you much, but you can practice your skills, and hand out business cards for more leads.

Being a magician isn't for everyone. It takes the right person , with a good personality and showman skills, as well as the ability to perform convincingly, especially to young children.
