How to Make Money Online - Not!

Rich guy in infomercial says that when he was a teenager and/or was fired from his last job he discovered a way to make a fortune off the Internet. Rich guy claims he is making millions of dollars each week and shows you the expensive car and mansion with a pool he has so far been able to buy with his Internet money. But more impressive than rich guy is the testimonial from other people who went to a seminar taught by rich guy and are now making at least $1,000 a week working from home on their computer. I would settle for some system that teaches me how to make $100 a week from home. I can't even find something that pays out $100 a month. That is why we all are interested in what rich guy has to say. The heck with trying to make millions, we want to just make a living at the least. Obviously rich guy is a liar. He is not making millions a week off the Internet, and those people in his ads saying they are making thousands of dollars a week are nothing more than actors. Rich guy says that he is teaching his get rich at home system because he wants everyone to learn how to make money the way he did. He has such a great system that he needs to share it worth the world. But lets look at this logically. If rich guy wanted to spread knowledge of his system then why is he charging you $20 or more to buy a book? If he was so eager to dispense this knowledge then why not give it away for free. Surely a man who can buy fancy cars and mansions and is making hand over fist money every week can afford to press and distribute some books out of his own pocket. He can't even argue that the $20 is to recoup the expense for publishing the book because if that were the case then he would be charging less than $5 a book. He is making a $15 profit for each book sold.

So why would a person who is making a fortune off the Internet need to also make a profit off a book? Rich guy has an entire half hour infomercial each night. The entire half hour he tells you what a great system he has for making money and how if you follow it then you will be rich too, but does not mention once how the system works. Why not use that half hour explaining how his system works instead of making us buy a book? Okay, lets say he argues that infomercials and books would cost him money if he gave away information for free. Then what about his website? Surely he can place a few adds to recoup the website cost and then instead of the website being nothing but a pitch for his book it could be the information from that book. In fact rich guy could put that information on the Internet for free without even creating a website. This site right here would publish his article for free and probably even pay him for it. There are literally thousands of websites out there with free bulletin boards and forums. There is Yahoo and Google Groups which is free, blog sites that are free, even some sites that offer free web pages. Rich guy wants to distribute this information but can't find anywhere to do it for free? Perhaps even more telling is that even if rich guy is not giving his system away for free then why is no one else? He has to have taught this system to thousands of others by now, so why are none of them explaining how it works on the free websites? People go out of their way to give away free music and movies, even risk jail time and lawsuits from the record company and movie studios for doing so, but no one is willing to give away a sure fire get rich at home system?

Or then again maybe they are and you would never notice, because the system does not make you a fortune a week. Occasionally some of the rich guys trying to sell you their books will say that their system involves placing adds for Google. It is suppose to be easy but unless you do not buy his book then you will not know how to do it. Okay, I am going to tell you right now rich guy's system and exactly how to do it for free! This is what you find out when you buy rich guy's book. Google has a program called Adsense. There is nothing secret about this because Google advertises it wherever they can. Sign up with Google and you can place those Adsense ads on just about any Web site provided they let you! In other words occasionally a group or message forum will allow you to embed Adsense in the body of your posts. Many blogs also allow you to embed Adsense at the bottom, top, or side of each entry. Hubpages and other sites allow you to embed Adsense ads on articles you write for them. And if you own a website then you are allowed to include Adsense ads. What is Adsense? They are those tiny little links underlined and in blue writing you see on web pages with a blurb about the site they want you to visit. You probably just barely notice them or ignore them whenever you see them. Adsense has a program that reads the key words in the body of the text that they are embedded in and is suppose to pick out appropriate ads to place that would interest those reading the article. Sometimes this works, but sometimes the wrong key words are picked out and you get an ad for antiques in an article for video games. ( I have seen this happen at least once, along with other odd Adsense pairings ).

A big problem with Adsense is this, they only pay you if someone clicks the ad and actually follows the link to the advertised website. You get about five cents at the most per click. The problem is that out of the thousands who read a page an Adsense ad is embedded on only a couple of them will actually bother to click the link. So in order to make any money you have to have tens of thousands of people read your content so that a few hundred click the Adsense ad just to make $25 to $100. And if you are getting that sort of traffic then you would not really need Adsense because real advertisers would be interested. Another problem is that if Google believes that your Adsense account is getting fraudulent clicks then they will cancel it, even if they owe you money that they never pay. This happens when either an Adsense ad is clicked using your computer, or if they find that any computer has clicked an Adsense ad several times in the same week. Both suggest that you have been clicking your own Adsense ads, or have instructed a friend to do so. Google has promised those advertisers using Adsense that they would weed out fraudulent clicks and once such an account is flagged then they will cancel it and refund their clients, even though some of those clicks were genuine. This problem happens a lot, such as someone other than you borrowing your computer and clicking Adsense, or a do gooder reading your blog and thinking he is helping you by continuously clicking the Adsense. Adsense wants you to build up $100 in an account before they will pay you and all that money can go away if they find any evidence of fraudulent clicks. But that is assuming you made any money off of Adsense. I have had Adsense for over a year on various blogs and so far no one has ever clicked one of their ads. I am sure others have had better luck, but I doubt anyone is pulling in big bucks. Like I said, if they are pulling in enough traffic to make $100 or more a month from Adsense then they should probably be signing up with a legitimate advertiser and/or making a deal with the blog site they write for to get a salary.
