How to Make Money Publishing Photos on Picable

Allison West
I've been writing for Triond for a year now, and I love being part of the wonderful Triond community; however, I haven't really made a lot of money there. My revenues have been small on Triond, probably because I don't have a lot of stories published on the site (I only have about 40 articles on Triond as of this writing.) On Associated Content, where I have 150 published articles, I'm starting to make more and more monthly residual income as I add stories to my library. This only confirms my theory that to make a good passive income from online writing, an author needs to publish a lot of content.

On some of the sites I write for, I see content providers with thousands of published articles. I'm sure these writers are making a nice residual part time or even a full time income from their content, but publishing that many articles just doesn't seem realistic for me. I'm getting better as far as productivity goes, but it still takes me some time to come up with an article idea, write the article, proofread it and submit my piece for publication. I started to think recently about how I could build up my online content without sacrificing quality for quantity.

I realized that I probably have hundreds of wonderful digital photos sitting on my computer's hard drive right now. It occurred to me that I've never really explored the money making potential of Picable. Last fall, I published a few photos of autumn scenes in the Hudson Valley, and they were popular, but I never got around to publishing any more photos on Picable. I decided that this summer, I'm going to publish a lot more photos on Picable to see if I can increase my Triond revenues.

How to Make More Money with Picable

It's easy to get started making money with Triond's partner site Picable. You don't need anything fancy or expensive to get started publishing your photos online. If you have a reasonably modern digital camera, some free time, and a photo editing program on your computer, you can get started publishing your photos on Picable.

I am using a six year old Canon Powershot digital camera, that only has 3 megapixels, but I find that my pictures still look clear and crisp when they are published online. I also take some of my published photos with the camera in my Motorola Razr cell phone, and I'm always astonished how colorful and sharp the camera phone pictures are. Lots of the photos I'm now publishing on Picable were taken when I was writing travel articles about a particular area; I find that Picable is a great place to publish these "leftover" pictures that didn't get published with my travel stories.

When I'm taking pictures for Picable, or trying to choose which ones I'll publish from the photos that are already saved on my computer, I look for clear, in-focus images that are saturated with color. My photos usually have a focal point also, perhaps one bold flower, or a striking building that demonstrates an area's architecture, or some element that grabs the viewer's attention or tells a story.

These days, as I'm giving Picable a try, I always like to have my camera with me, in case I find an interesting subject to photograph. I download the photos to my computer then I crop or resize them using the simple photo editing program called Paint that came with my computer (you could also use a more advanced program like Photoshop to crop or enhance your photos before publishing them on Picable). Since I don't have to pay for film or processing (I just have to periodically recharge my camera's batteries), it's really easy and inexpensive to produce good images for Picable. It just requires some time, creativity and enthusiasm, taking a lot of digital pictures, then looking through your photos for the ones that are the most striking and interesting.

Submitting your pictures to Triond, and publishing your photographs to the Picable website, is a very simple process. In the past week, I've added about 25 photos to the 5 published pictures I already had on Picable. I didn't do much promoting of these Picable photos, just added a few links to them as Xomblurbs on the website Xomba. Still, in this last week, I've seen some small increase in revenues in my normally quite sluggish Triond account. I'm really excited about the potential profits with Picable.

I believe it will take lots of published content on Picable to see an increase in my monthly revenues; however, I have hundreds of great photos sitting in a folder on my computer, so I'm curious if adding a lot of quality pictures to Picable will increase my monthly Triond earnings.

In between publishing articles on Triond, Associated Content and Xomba, I intend to publish as many photos as I can on Picable. Whenever I visit the Picable front page, I notice a list of their popular photographers. The top Picable photographer has about 3,777 published photos! Imagine if all of those photos generated even a small income, if all these pictures could manage to produce 25 cents each in revenues. This would produce about $944 for the author of these photos, and even if they could manage 10 cents each in earnings, they could still pull in roughly $378 for the photographer!

I'm beginning to think that there's a great untapped earnings potential to Picable that I've not yet explored. In this last year, I've explored new ways of generating online income, like posting Xomblurbs at the website Xomba and sharing in Google AdSense revenues. It seems to me that Picable could also be a money maker for those who are willing to devote the time to upload a lot of interesting, high quality photos.

This summer I'll be publishing quite a few photos on Picable, and doing some social bookmarking of my photos. Each day that I add more photos with Picable, I see small but steady increases in my earnings, so I'm excited to see how my revenues could jump if I add a lot of Picable content. If you are looking to make more money this summer, why not consider Picable? In my opinion, publishing articles on Triond and adding photos to Picable, is a great way to create a nice residual income stream.
