The first and easiest way is through Google's Adsense program. Once you sign up, you can modify the links in various ways to match your site. You then have to insert the HTML code into your site and your visitors will then see the Google ad. How it works is also simple.
Google matches up your site with potential other products or businesses relating to your site. However, if you sell widgets and you don't want ads for other widgets, you can elect not to have similar advertisements. When a visitor to your site clicks on the link, your site receives a fee based on what Google has negotiated with that company. It could range from a penny a click to a dollar or more a click. It could also be a percentage of the sale if they buy something from that site.
Along with Adsense, you can place Google's Adsense search bars on your site. It works the same way as Adsense in that if someone searches from your site and clicks on one of the advertisements, you will get paid. You only get paid from the ads at the top or bottom of the search that says ads and not the general items found in the search. Once you sign up for Google's Adsense, you will also have the option of using the Google search bars.
Google is a reputable company and they make payments after your site has reached $100 in revenue.
The second way to make money is through affiliate programs. Many online companies will have links at the bottom of their site labeled affiliates. If you click on that link it will direct you on how to sign up. Some companies like Amazon.com have their own affiliate programs. Many online sites choose to sign up with an affiliate program that manages all the work for them.
Affiliate programs are an excellent way to go, because once you sign up, you have access to hundreds of online websites that you can add to your site. Two programs that I am familiar with are Commission Junction and Linkshare. They are both reputable companies and pay out based the level of money earned from each company in their program.
How it works is also simple. They negotiate with companies like Best Buy, Circuit City, Barnes and Nobles, and more. They set up a commission percentage and every time someone is linked from your site and buys something, you get paid. They may also negotiate pay-per-clicks or have a set fee for registration.
For example, when someone signs up for Netflix through your site, you will receive a flat commission rate based on what level they signed up for. eBayĆ , a very large internet business, has a wonderful affiliate program. You will get paid for every person that registers and makes a bid. You will also get paid every time a registered user makes a bid and a buy through one of your links.
Now, the Third and hardest way to earn money is to beat down the doors of local businesses in your area and offer them ad space on your website. If you can customize your traffic reports, show a large number of monthly hits and why they should advertise on your site, you may find this lucrative. This form of advertisement is not for the weak and takes some sales experience, unless you have a large following in the community or have friendships already built up. Once their advertisement is on your website, you can consider it guaranteed money as long as they pay their bill.
I make no guarantees that you will make money, but you could literally make thousands of dollars a month depending on the volume of traffic coming to your site and the content of your site.
Oh, one more thing with the affiliate programs, you can make money off the things you buy through your own links. So, if you do a lot of shopping online, it may be a good idea to see if they have an affiliate program for the stores you like and sign them up to your site.
There are other ways to make money through the internet, but these four methods are a good start. Good luck on your internet money making abilities.
