How to Make Money Writing EBooks

If you have a talent in writing, you can make money online. Especially if you don't have the means to advertise your work offline or invest large amounts of money into promoting your work, writing online can be one of smartest entrepreneurial moves to ensure an extra income.

For people who have no previous experience with self-publishing it may seem difficult or complicated to make money writing eBooks. However, considering that there is no publishing company involved telling you what to write about and how to write it and that you don't have to wait for anyone's approval for getting published, it becomes easy to make money online taking advantage of your writing skills. All you have to do is choose a topic you are familiar with, produce a well-structured eBook and upload it in the relevant marketplace.

Here are some useful tips on how to make money writing eBooks:

(a) Knowledge is important

You can sell almost anything on the Internet and you can write an eBook for effectively promoting what you want to sell. However, it would be a terrible mistake to try and sell something you are not familiar with. Use your knowledge and expertise to produce an eBook and give people information they are willing to pay for. Use your expertise to research on the topic you like. For instance, if you are familiar with career advice tips, produce an eBook where you can incorporate all this knowledge. Don't try to write a book about astronomy because, simply, it won't work.

(b) Quantity is important

Articles of 600 words obviously do not qualify for an eBook. Although they may deliver the information they promise, they are not a book. They are a well-structured article of 600 words. Besides, if you are well qualified to talk about a particular topic, you are possibly competent to communicate your knowledge in more than 600 words, aka 2 pages. Therefore, as quantity is important, provided you have something important to say, write your eBook, format it using a professional compiler software program that you can download for free and make sure you market it to the right target audience. Remember that what you're selling is a product that needs to address the needs and wants of particular customers. The only difference is that you are the producer and the marketer at the same time. There are no intermediaries.

(c) Quality does matter

Being well qualified in particular topics gives you the freedom to produce an eBook and really make a difference. However, there's nothing more annoying for consumers to download an eBook that is not worth the money. Make sure you really WRITE an eBook, i.e. you filling in the pages. Don't include 2-3 links and one short description and charge $10 only because your cover is very attractive. If you do that, you sell nothing more than a beautiful packaging with a rotten product. Not only you don't help your reputation as a writer, but you also harm the industry as well. So, remember: quality matters!

(d) Packaging matter as well

As in any marketing strategy, online or offline, packaging is important. Especially, when it comes to eBooks, consumers judge primarily from the cover because they cannot really touch the book and flip it over (with the narrow sense of the word). So, if you want to raise consumer interest, design a really attractive cover for your eBook. Make consumers wonder "what is this book about?" Make consumers download your eBook. There are several free eBook programs that you can download for free and allow you to design the cover of your eBook. But remember: quality matters!

Overall, online writing is a huge marketplace because the Internet allows you to target your customers and turn your writing skills into a profitable business. Particularly, when it comes to eBooks, it's really incredible how many topics can be produced, researched and be actually sold. So, it's all up to you. If you have a writing talent, take advantage of it. Just make sure you respect your customers as well.
