How to Get More Coupons

S.B.
As you are all probably aware, there were five coupon inserts in this week's paper. It was awesome! I just wanted to share with you some strategies for getting extra coupons.

I know so many people who don't clip coupons and just throw out the inserts. I have found one of the best ways to get extra coupons is to just ask people. My grand mom does not bother with coupons and is so happy to pull out the inserts and set them aside for me. Ask your relatives, friends and neighbors and I'm sure someone would be happy to save them and see them go to good use!

Also, some coupons are useless to certain people. For example, someone without children is not going to need the diaper coupons. I also ask people to save me the coupons that they don't clip. My father in law clips the coupons he needs each week and gives me the extras. It's a great strategy to make sure no coupon is wasted!

This may sound totally pathetic, but I have done it before when there was a good coupon to be had. We have newspaper recycling bins around here and I have pulled coupon inserts out of those before. Hey, it's recycling!

For those of you that CVS, it is possible to work out a deal in which you purchase an extra Sunday paper. If you ever need extra coupon inserts, that is one way to do it.

Another great way to get coupons is to write to the company. If you love a product, take a few minutes and contact the company to tell them. When I have done this in the past, they have usually thanked me and sent me coupons. Or if you have had a problem with a product, let the company know and you will usually get free product coupons that way.

Be on the lookout for coupons inside product packaging! Many times companies will include coupons on the inside of a box, or in a little booklet inside the packaging.

Don't forget about rebate offers that include coupons. Do you know that Colgate company has a rebate that includes a travel bag, product samples and $9.00 worth of coupons? Or what about the Pepsi rebate for $15.00 worth of coupons?

Sign up for mailing lists and email list for products. For example, S.C Johnson Company has the clean home journal which sends you product coupons for S.C Johnson Products.

Utilize online coupons sites like redplum, coolsavings, smartsource and coupons.com.

Do you have supermarket or drugstore loyalty cards? If so, make sure the accounts and updated with your current address. They often send you coupons in the mail.

Request free samples! Not only will you get to try a free product sample, but they always come with coupons. That is a real plus.
Lastly, I just wanted to remind you that if you have coupons that have expired or that you can't use, consider donating them to the overseas coupon program for military families. You can find out more about the program by clicking here.
