How to Get More Free Time

Keep a daily to do list

Make a to-do-list everyday. Write down the 10 most important things you need to do. Number your tasks in order from the most important to the least important.

Delegate tasks

Consider hiring someone to do the tasks where you do not have to be present. Get some high school or college students to help out. If you have kids ask them to do it. They will learn responsibility as a bonus.

When you start something finish it.

This goes for everything. For example when you stop reading a book and use a bookmark to save your place. You usually read a half of a page or more trying to find your spot. Or you come back to the book 6 month's later and you have no idea what the previous chapters were about. Then you end up starting the book all over again just to remember what the book was all about.

Group similar activities

Be sure to make a list of errands that you can complete in blocks of time. It takes time to switch tasks. Set aside a certain time to do all of your computer work. Have another block of time to make all of your phone calls.

Speed read

Learn to speed read. Take a speed reading course or use the resources on the internet. Use a highlighter when you come across the important points.

Stop watching TV.

The television is a huge waste of time. Many people waste their life away sitting in front of the idiot box. Think about it, you sit there and watch others live their dreams. Why don't you get out there and live yours.

Automate everything.

When you get those bills in the mail do you pay them via snail mail. If you spend one second stuffing envelopes or licking stamps you are wasting your time. Get online and go to your bank or credit union and sign up for automatic bill pay. You can automate all of your bills and never have to write a check for these expenses ever again.

Focus

Use post it notes to remind you of the important things. Adjust your notes as you complete your tasks.
