How to Get More Popular at School

If you're not popular in high school, you will feel those ripples for the rest of your life. Just letting you know. I could make a good case that the rest of your life revolves around your status in high school.

Whether or not you believe me, you know that being more popular in high school is never a bad thing. So here's how to be more popular at school.

  1. Popular people always represent themselves well.

The first step to being more popular at school is to section out your own clothing style. It doesn't matter whether you're a nerd, goth kid, emo or scene kid, or whether you call yourself nothing. Your clothes are your representation to the high school world.

Whatever you wear, keep it clean and neat. If it's black, keep the lint off of it.

Keep your hair immaculate and always styled up. Not that other guy's style, your own style. People will notice that you respect yourself.

  2. Get more popular by trying new things.

After you get your wardrobe together, it's time to join some activities. You will never have the chance to join as many things as you will in high school and college, so expand yourself. The earlier, the better.

Pick something you excel at and something you don't. You will meet a great cross section of people. As long as you keep a sense of humor about sucking at certain things, people will want to be your friend.

  3. Get a rep, then use it to make new friends.

The last step to being more popular is to actively solicit friends. Go for broke. Once your reputation gets around as a good dresser who isn't afraid to try new things, people won't call you weird if you try to sit with them at lunch. And on top of all that, with your new activities, you'll have a lot to say.

  4. After school, keep in touch with popular kids through your online social networks.

Solidify your new friendships with Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, whatever's popular. Stay in touch with your new friends and hit up the events they go to when invited. You're sure to be more popular if you keep up with the crowd. And with technology, that's easy. Good luck!
