How to Get the Most Time Out of Your Kitchen

If you want to get the most for your money, and save time as well, there are several things you can do to get the most out of your kitchen and time.

Here are some tips to remember!

1. If you're using something heavy, such as a syrup - corn or pancake and it gets down to the end where it won't come out at your speed, place it in the microwave and warm for a few seconds. It will come right out!

2. To get the onion smell out of your hands after you've been chopping them, sprinkle salt on your hands and rub them together. Wash with soap and water and the smell will be gone!

3. If you're making muffins or cupcakes, and they need to be the same size (we know how kids are!) use an ice cream scoop to add the batter, they'll all come out equal so no fighting amongst the children. It's also a lot cleaner to use.

4. To marinade your meat, quickly and cheaply- use a bottle of Italian Salad dressing. It has plenty of herbs in it to give your steak an extra zing.

5. If you need to cover something with aluminum foil to bake, use a cookie sheet upside down over the dish. It'll save you from the constant need to buy tin foil!

6. To clean crock-pots easily, line your crock-pot with aluminum foil before adding the meal. The cookie sheet will not work here.... It's easy to clean after, simply pull out the foil and no scrubbing duty!

7. When you're cooking vegetables and want to add a little extra flavor, use chicken or beef broth instead of plain water.

8. If you need to make all your pancakes the same size, (see children comment under #3) use a gravy ladle to scoop out the batter. Great even sizes, and less mess!

9. If you're boiling cabbage, add a bit of vinegar to the water. You won't notice the taste, and it will cut down on that horrid cabbage smell.

10. For those Fluffanutter sandwich lovers, when you want to make your lunch and the Fluff doesn't want to cooperate, dip your knife in hot water and you'll have no problems spreading the marshmallow.

11. When peeling your vegetables or potatoes, peel over a newspaper or paper towel. You'll be able to scoop it all up quickly and easily without mess, and it can be thrown directly into your compost pile, paper and all!

Save yourself time and money in the kitchen and try these tips next time you're cooking!
