How to Make a Mother' Day Edible Arrangement

Mother's Day Gifts that Save Money

Sondra C
Mother's day will be different this year; set apart from all previous celebrations due to living on a tight budget. Dad lost his job; food prices have doubled, the kids need new shoes and have outgrown their clothes. On top of all this the gas prices have sky rocketed. The usual Mother's Day celebration will be different this year it will be something we made ourselves instead of calling up Edible Arrangements and ordering.

What type of Mother's Day gift can we send to Granny who lives 700 miles away. During the past years we went to a store in the mall and bought her gifts we thought she would like. We never considered the price. This year her gift will be different. It will be our own version of anedible arrangement that granny will enjoy.

Edible Arrangements creates great gifts that can be eaten. This is a good idea and one worth considering but they are a bit pricey, especially since this type of gift can easily be made by family members.

Hold a family meeting and decide what to include in your own version of an edible arrangement to send to Granny who lived 700 miles away. We all agreed that this would be fun to make for a Mother's Day gift as well as be healthy.

How to Make Your own Food Arrangements for Mother's Day.

1. Make an arrangement of white and dark chocolates along with fresh cherries inside the chocolate. Include a few chocolate roses as well. Wrap them in any type of gift wrap, place in a box and cover with protective bubble wrap. Send along a computer created mothers day card from the family.

2. Cookies are always a welcome gift, so buy the mix and bake a batch to send to Granny this Mother's day. Chocolate chip cookies is usually a favorite and so are those with fruits in the center. If you run short of ideas, search the Internet as it is a chock full of good cookie ideas to bake.

3. The old favorites are great. Make an arrangement of cut up fresh fruits. Sure you could buy them, from edible arrangements, but it is cheaper and more fun for the family to cut up the fruits themselves. Be sure not to include a banana in your fruit bouquet. This fruit turns brown easily.

4. Buy apples, pears, oranges and grapes or any combination of fruits that granny might like. Wash and dry them before wrapping the fruits. Place them into a basket and wrap them with cellophane. A small fruit knife would make a handy gift to include, to help her cut the fruit into bite sized slices,

There are many other bouquets you can create that are edible that will be enjoyed by Granny. Hold a family meeting prior to Mother's Day and create your very own edible fruit bouquet that will be enjoyed even more because you created it yourself sent it out to Granny for Mother's Day.

I once received a "bouquet" made almost entirely of scented soaps in various shapes. Sometimes the old-fashioned gifts are really wonderful. Good piece.
