How Mothers Can Lose Weight Without Hitting the Gym

Kim Gould
When it comes to being a mother, it is often hard to find the time to workout and stay in shape. So many mothers have a hard time losing their pregnancy weight because they simply don't have the time or the energy to make it to the gym when they have young children to take care of.

So what is there that you can do besides gaining pounds? It is actually fairly simple. Use your time wisely. When you have your kids begging you to go somewhere during the summer, make it fun for them and practical for you.

When they want to go to the playground, figure out what you can use to your advantage. The monkey bars can be used for pullups. Pushing your kids on the swings can help work your arms. Simply climbing to the top of the slide is decent exercise. Don't just sit idly by with all the other parents because you feel like you have to be the adult. Join in with your kids games. Especially when they are younger, your kids will adore you. They'll want you to be involved. So go play tag and run around the park with them. It's great exercise for you and they'll be happy.

If it's during the summer and they want to hit the beach, don't just lay in the sun. Sure it's important to keep an eye on your kids but if you're going to a beach then there will be lifeguards watching them as well to make sure that they stay safe. So why don't you join them in the water. Swimming takes a tremendous amount of energy and is a great workout.

So the next time that the kids want to go somewhere, remember that you can use this time to workout. You don't have to go to a gym and waste money on a gym membership to stay fit. There's a reason that active kids are in good shape. Everybody should take notes from them. We don't need to set aside time to workout, there are plenty of things that can be done to get good exercise. As a society, we tend to focus on the big flashy machines as a necessity to remain in shape when this simply isn't true. Walking to the park, running around with your kids and using time to your advantage will make losing weight easier.
