How to Get in Motion

Inertia Will Sap Our Energy, Take All the Joy Out of Life, Make Us Grumpy

Inertia. It sounds like a disease, and figuratively, it is.
It's defined as resistance or disinclination to motion, action or change. For those who continue in a job they hate, inertia will sap their energy, take all the joy out of life, and make them grumpy and miserable. Follow the next five tips to turn your life around.

1]. Update your resume. Pull it out, mull it over, and do some updating. Proud of your recent accomplishments? Nay to that.

2]. Where did all those dreams go? Were they trampled to death by the "real world"? Start visualizing another reality, another line of work, another life. Start investigating options, either a career change, or setting out on your own.

3]. Friends and co-workers who can help? or are they an impediment, "enablers" who help keep you lowly and obedient? Cast a wide net, keeping track of all that goes on in your town, and beyond. You will find people who have been there and done that, and are glad to help you on your journey of self discovery.

4]. Time for some goal setting, minor to major. They will be the launching pad to a new future. This exit strategy must include that updated resume, plus weight loss or management, a new wardrobe, career coaching, maybe more.

5]. Get fired up, not fired. But if you do lose your job, look at it as a blessing in disguise. That dreaded jolt will blast you out of your drift and in the right direction, forcing you to make long overdue changes for the better. You can set a date for leaving on your own terms. Tell yourself "This job has ended", and get on with your life.
