In the past 20 years there have been many changes to the motivational environment of Psychology. Motivational psychology is a broad field of study that is used often in business. Since motivational psychology was first conceived up unto the present day motivational psychology has played an important role in how we live our lives every day. This article will discuss how motivation psychology has changed and developed over the past 20 years.

The study of motivation has roots in philosophy and it has been around since the earliest of times Motivational theory was defined mainly by a symposium that occurred for 25 years. In 1979 though this symposium stopped focusing on motivational theory, and this type of study seemed to be lost. In the past 20 years it has made its come back and is now it is considered one of the most important parts of the study of psychology.

Motivational theory did not completely disappear; it was still studied, but many psychologists branched into different fields and were not interested in motivational theories themselves. In 1990 the symposium once again invited motivational theorists, and it was revived and recognized for its importance.

Now that motivational theory is largely studied again it has gone from having a few basic theories to many perspectives and fields. The fact is motivational study did not produce conclusive results with any of the past theories, and because of this it appears it lost some credit, but now psychologists realize it is important and there is much more behind the study of motivation than there was in the past.

The recently rekindled interest of motivational psychology has led many psychologists to take on multiple different perspectives. Now, there are many people studying different theories of motivation, and the fields of motivational psychology are still increasing.

Psychologists have realized that there are several components such as events, emotions, and cognition that relate to motivation. Cultural, physiology, and biology are also areas of motivational psychology that are commonly explored.

Many events in the past have shaped our idea of motivational psychology. The recent interest in it has broadened the study of motivation in the past 20 years.
