How Mouthwash can Clean the Whole House

5 Ways to Use Mouthwash to Clean Your Home

Penny Richards
Every night, I gargle a mouthful of Listerine antiseptic mouthwash. But keeping my teeth clean and white isn't the only use I have for mouthwash. Mouthwash has a dozen uses around the house, serving as everything from a cheap bathroom cleaning product to a cheap deodorizer. You can even use mouthwash to clean your computer screen! In this practical household guide, we'll show you five ways to use mouthwash around your home to keep your house clean and your laundry smelling fresh, as well as a deodorizer, bathroom cleaner, skin spritzer and anti-fungus treatment. After reading this house and home article, you won't think of mouthwash the same!

5 Ways to Use Mouthwash Around Your Home:

Mouthwash Use #1: Laundry freshener. Mouthwash makes a great laundry freshener, and you don't have to buy expensive Listerine mouthwash; generic, drugstore mouthwash works just as well. All you need is an alcohol-based mouthwash (i.e. don't buy the Crest Pro mouthwash, as it doesn't use alcohol). To freshen your laundry, empty a cup of mouthwash into your load of laundry and wash as usual. It will freshen your laundry and kill germs (great for sports kids!).

Mouthwash Use #2: Computer screen cleaner. Mouthwash is great for wiping your computer screen and cleaning off dust and fingerprints. Just use a soft tissue (such as Kleenex facial tissue) moistened with mouthwash and wipe away!

Mouthwash Use #3: Budget facial skin spritzer. Why buy expensive facial products to awaken your senses and freshen your skin when mouthwash works just as well? Use a cotton ball dipped in mouthwash to cleanse your skin; it'll deep cleanse to clear pores of dirt and oil. After wiping your face, rinse with a splash of cold water to tighten pores and brighten your complexion.

Mouthwash Use #4: Bathroom cleaning product. The alcohol in your cheap antiseptic mouthwash is great for killing germs. Mix a couple ounces of mouthwash into your toilet bowl and let it sit for half an hour before flushing, then cleaning as usual. The mouthwash will sanitize your toilet and deodorize it all at once!

Mouthwash Use #5: Smelly feet? Underarm odor? Mouthwash is great for zapping odors and freshening smells. It's also a great anti-fungus treatment thanks to its alcohol content for killing bacteria and germs?

What do you think about these household uses of mouthwash? Mouthwash is cheap and can be bought in any neighborhood drugstore. It's great for its original dental purpose, but as we've shown, mouthwash can also be a fantastic household cleaning product for any budget. Use mouthwash as we've suggested, and you'll save time and money cleaning your home.

I also like to block the drain and add a 1/2 cup of bleach to the bottom of the tub before showering. It's amazing how well this keeps away any foot odor and also destroys warts and fungus. Do this once or twice a week and your feet will look and smell great.

Some of these suggestions are good, but I think one of the cheapest and most effective ways to kill germs around the house is good old chlorine bleach. It's dirt cheap too.

These are great suggestions. I tried a brand of mouthwash that I did not like once and just poured it down the sink. It left my sink looking brand new! So I think you are definitely onto a winner with this article!

A vet's wife told me that she knows of a woman with TONS of cats and she uses Listerine to clean up after them. She has been in her house and there's no cat smell... so this must be a powerful cleaner!
