Tyler Emerson
Whether moving to a new residence within your own neighborhood or to another state, getting organized can be challenging. There are several areas that need attention such as deciding on a moving company, what you will do with your plants, how you will transport your pets, and how to prepare your children. While there are several tasks that need to be accomplished, there are ways to get organized, be successful, and to keep your stress level low. So, if you are planning a move, try these 10 tips.

1. Comparison shop for furniture and automobile transport companies in order to determine the best prices, types of services, and rates pertaining to the amount of weight you will be transporting.

2. Learn your rights and responsibilities when contracting a furniture and auto transport company. This is critical to determine who is liable as far as damages to your property.

3. Obtain packing boxes from places such as grocery stores, office supply stores, or your job. Always determine where you can obtain boxes for free prior to purchasing them.

4. Begin packing items that you have not used in awhile or do not plan to use prior to the move.

5. Tell your children about the move as soon as possible, involve them in several aspects of the relocation, have them pack a box of their special items, let them share contact information with friends and explore ways to say good-bye.

6. Prior to the move, take your pet for a veterinary appointment and obtain copies of records and identification information.

7. If your pet will be traveling by air, be sure to contact the airline to inquire about animal regulations and services.

8. If your pet will be traveling by car, make sure your pet has a comfortable space and never leave your pet in the car alone.

9. The day before you move, make sure your plant is well-watered and place it in a sturdy carton that will maintain it in an upright position.

10. Finally, when transporting your car with an auto transport company, be sure the gas tank is less than one-quarter full and free of any leaks (i.e. oil, radiator, battery).

Overall, there are several steps to the moving process and it can be overwhelming. Therefore, it is important to take steps to plan ahead. Hopefully, these ten tips will get you started on the road to a well-organized relocation.
