Condition: This is very important. If a card is even slightly bent, worn or out of shape it gets deducted value. To recieve top dollar cards must be in their purchased condition and any straying away from this will cost you. Older cards have the hardest time with this as they have to survive the elements and storage over the years.
Age: In general, the older the basketball card is the more value it has. This is because chances are over the years that any given card's population will drop. That is some will be lost or destroyed forever and thus there are fewer out there to collect. In addition, basketball legends from the past will grace these cards and to some collectors whom look for certain players this is valuable.
Rarity: This means how many of a particular card is out in circulation. Common cards, or those with a very large circulation, that are easy to find or get have little to no value. In contrast, cards that are difficult to find have a much higher value. Determining this attribute of a card can be tricky and I suggest consulting an expert or studing auction patterns online.
Value Added Extras: This could be anything really. If the card has a special attribute, such as being a rookie card, it may get an extra boost in price. Autographes will really jack up the price of basketball, and other sports such as baseball and football, cards particularly if you have it authenicated.
So those are some general rules to pricing cards. Hopefully this helps you figure out the value and how much basketball cards are worth.
