Say for example that you have an alarm clock in your room. Perhaps you have an alarm clock in every room in the house. Your alarm clock which is running for 24 hours a day will only cost you 30 cents to run for the entire month, 24 hours a day. That means that if you have 4 alarm clocks running in your home it will cost you $1.20 to run all the alarm clocks in your house. It really isn't worth unplugging one alarm clock to save yourself 30 cents a month if you need it.
Now lets say that you run your dryer which is 5,000 watts for about 4 hours every single day of the month. You will be surprised to find out that this will cost you around $60 to run your dryer every single day for 4 hours. After I found out this information, I stopped doing laundry completely. If you cut that in half and only do laundry for 4 hours every other day you will save yourself about $30 a month. Isn't this nice to know now? I wish that I would have known this information about 4 years ago.
If you have your laptop plugged in and running for 24 hours a day this will cost you about $3.30 at the end of the month. That means by shutting down your computer at night you are saving yourself about $1.50 every single month. That might not seem like a lot but all you have to do is shut off the computer.
If you have any fans running which are about 48 inches in length and you run them for 12 hours a day it will cost you about $2.60 to run them for the entire month. That means that if you don't use ceiling fans you are saving yourself about $2.60 a month. If you run your fan all day long the entire month you will pay about $5 to run this ceiling fan all day long.
If you decide to make some toast and you run your toaster for 15 a day, every single day for the entire month you will pay about $1.20 at the end of the month to run your toaster. This really isn't something that you need to worry about because most people don't run a toaster for 15 minutes straight.
If you run your air for only 3 hours per day for an entire month it will cost you $30 to run your air. If you run the air for 6 hours every single day for the month it will cost you about $60.
Running your dryer is like running your oven. They both use about the same amount of watts. Can you imagine running your oven for 6 hours every day. You would pay about $93 a month to run your dryer or your oven for about 6 hours per day.
I hope that you get some use out of this information. I'm really surprised that my electric bill isn't higher. It's obviously pays to shut off those lights and turn the TV off at night. I won't be drying as many clothes as I usually do.
