How Much Money Do eBay Power Sellers Really Make?

Peter R
Nowadays, when you hear about people making money on eBay, you hear a lot about people wanting to make a living doing it, or even get rich. Most of the eBay-related books at the bookstore talk about the millionaire Power Seller. Certainly, there is some truth to concept, especially for people who got in the game early in the late 90's. In fact, if you were to browse eBay listings now and look at the number of Power Sellers you would find quite a few with ratings in the thousands.

Just what is a Power Seller? Well first off, you have to be making at least $1000 per month to acquire the elite Power Seller label next to your eBay seller profile. Then, consider the fact that there are different levels of Power Sellers. After the basic Power Seller, there is the Silver, who makes at least $3000 a month; personally I know a few of these who sell some of their products at swap meets and they simply buy stuff at bazaars, discount stores and sell it on eBay. No secrets or genius master plans. Gold Power Sellers have to make more than $10,000 per month and Platinums make over $25,000 grand every month. Now, the cream of the crop, which involves one eBay seller who was offered an executive position at the corporate headquarters, and others who have written a lot of best selling books, is the Titanium. To reach this level you must consistently make over $150,000 in total sales every month!

So, it's definitely possible to not only make a living but become wealthy. And no, the Titaniums didn't start out wealthy and buy up a bunch of merchandise or sell a Leer Jet, although one has been sold on eBay. Many of them started out selling one product, than turned it into a hobby and took it up from there. I sell regularly on eBay part time and it's addicting.

Think about it, a potential million dollar a year business where you just own stuff and list it. No corporate politics, staff to pay and manage, shareholders to answer to and all the other corporate boardroom nonsense.

Even if you don't feel ready to quit your day job to pursue eBay full time, it can be an enjoyable hobby that only takes up some time on the weekends. Also, it can be a significant source of income supplementation. Rather than take a second job waiting tables for extra cash, learn how to get bargains and post it on eBay. Start by using it as a way to liquidate the stuff you don't need anymore. Let go of your clutter. People have too much stuff and excess clutter clutters up your life, your mind, and your spirit.

Auction off those old Duran Duran posters and Transformer action figures, along with your comic book collection. Than, spend the profits on acquiring more stuff to sell on eBay. Where to acquire stuff and what to sell could be another article in itself, but there are plenty of great books out there, such as the one I'm reading now called How to Sell Anything on eBay and Make a Fortune. How hard would it be to make an extra $400 or $500 selling stuff on eBay, and how much would that change your lifestyle.

Where else could you find that kind of earning potential where you can't be fired or downsized and you can do it from home? Also, no one at eBay cares what hours you work, or what you look like, or how young or old you are. Anyone can find stuff in any town in America, or just buy bulk products on eBay and resell it. eBayer's are also a close knit community. Rather than compete and backstab each other, they like to help each other so everyone benefits. Why not get on board? However, beware, once you start making a few hundred dollars extra a month part time, you might start getting visions of skipping the 9 to 5 life-sucking grind, putting up hundreds of listings a week, and before you know it having the esteemed title of Power Seller bestowed upon you.

I use edealsgonewild.com. They provide fliers and auction ready templates and are free. Also, DOBA.com is recommended by ebay. They have a monthly fee but have 250,000 products, a free trial and awesome products.
