There is a wide difference in pay for several reasons
1. More Certifications more pay
2. Some run their own business
3. Some sell products such as supplements
4. Some work for upper class gyms
If you have been in the business for 5 or more years it is very possible to make $60-100,000 a yearyou are at the right gym or if you have your own client base.
If you want to make taken seriously as a personal trainer you will need a respected certification, not onewhere you can pay $50.00 a get a printed piece of paper.
Here are a list of some well know Personal Training Certification Programs
1. A.C.E. (American Council of Exercise.)- one of the best know by the industry and respected.
2. NESTA (National Exercise & Sports Trainers Association)
3. I.S.S.A (International Sports Sciences Association)
The cost of certification is between $300-600
These programs will teach you muscle movements and what they work, techniques, code and ethics, etc.A test is required with a passing grade(usually of 70 percent or higher) and CPR certification which can be done after you take the test. You will not be given your certification until you provide proof you have taken the CPR classes.
Some facilities require insurance, which will only run you about $150 a year.
Job outlook is great!!!. People are taking their health more seriously than ever. This is a great, fun, rewarding career.
