How Much Should Someone Exercise?

Experts seem to be all over the board when it comes to exercise. Some will tell you that you should work out five days a week while others will say you should work out around three. It can become confusing to know precisely what the optimal amount of exercise is because experts are confused themselves.

Even if you figure out how much you should be working out you might also be confused about what type of exercise is most beneficial. You might not know which are the best exercises or where you should focus your energies. Knowing what to do and how long to do it is a great benefit. Be more focused in your work outs and know how to achieve your goals.

The truth is that the amount of exercise a person should do ranges for their body type. If they are naturally skinny person they can work out three times a week and maintain good health. Thirty minutes of cardiovascular work each session should be plenty to maintain the body and keep the cardiovascular system working properly.

If you have a Scandinavian body type you might want to work out more. Scandinavians like Germans, Swedish, Finlanders, Norwegians, and other types in that region have a thicker body frame than most races. They gain weight more quickly because they are cold weather creatures. They need this fat to keep them healthy throughout the winter.

Because of their genetic background they gain weight faster than more other types of people. Therefore a little higher amount of exercise will help them increase their metabolism and build additional muscles. They should work out three to four times a week with two to three days of weight training.

Therefore working out depends in part on your genetic background and ethnic metabolism levels. If you are generally a sleeker type person then working out for the cardiovascular benefits is sufficient. If your body is on the heavier side then a higher capacity workout would do you well. You can always add weight training for additional results.

The benefits of cross-functional training cannot be underestimated. Combining the benefits of cardiovascular exercise with weight training does two important functions. Cardiovascular workout like running, swimming and biking help you to lose weight and increase your metabolism so you can continue to burn fat even when you are not exercising. Weight lifting increases your overall muscles strength which also increases your metabolism but also helps you burn fat much longer.
