If you are planning to immigrate to the United States, your first port of call should be the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) site, where you will have a complete rundown on the current costs of immigration forms.
Does USCIS Charge to Download Immigration Forms?
USCIS has never charged customers to download immigration forms. If you have been told forms come with a download fee, do not hand over any money. The forms, along with the informational pages that come with the forms, are free to download from USCIS.
Immigration scams abound, including efforts to con unsuspecting immigrants out of their money when it comes to downloading and submitting forms. Do not fall for scams that claim to help you download forms or those that offer to complete them on your behalf. If you would prefer to order forms by mail, rather than download them, you can do so by calling 1-800-870-3676, and requesting that the appropriate forms be sent to your home address.
Some Forms Are Free of Charge
While many USCIS forms come with a filing fee, some forms are completely free of charge. These include Form AR-11 SR, Alien's Change of Address Card, Form G-325C, Biographic Information, Form I-924A, Supplement to Form I-924 and many others. Check the Forms page on the USCIS web site periodically and also right before you need to file, for the current fee schedule, as it is possible that fees may be applied to forms that were at one time free of charge.
Filing Fees Vary
USCIS filing fees vary, depending on the services you are applying for. Some forms and applications cost as little as $20, while others are as much as $3,835. Also, keep in mind that USCIS does not charge a fee for certain forms, but the Department of State or civil surgeons will charge you for certain services you require or are applying for.
Customers should be aware that USCIS never charges to download forms. They are always provided for free download to customers. The cost of USCIS forms varies and can fluctuate over time. Some are even free of charge. Check the Forms page to learn more about form fees so that you submit the correct fee (if applicable) along with your application.
