How to Make a Multimedia Christmas CD/DVD Ornament Gift

Personalized Gift and Ornament for Friends and Family

Personalized CDs and DVDs are inexpensive, nostalgic Christmas and holiday gifts for friends and family. Combine a personalized multimedia CD/DVD with a decorate holiday ornament in this inexpensive, easy Christmas craft.

Gather favorite Christmas photos, home movie clips, and other multimedia memories. Create a digital photo/video slide show set to favorite holiday songs on your computer. Use label-maker software to personalize a holiday label for your family's Christmas CD. Include the year, family name and decorative graphics or photo thumbnails. Burn a copy of the CD/DVD for each family member, friend or co-worker. Attach your personalized CD/DVD label.

Next, transform a soft CD sleeve or hard jewel case into a hanging Christmas ornament. Glue a large loop of ribbon to the back of the CD/DVD case. Decorate the case with sequins, glitter, stickers, photos or scraps of vintage Christmas cards. If your personalized label is colorful and decorative, you can leave the rest of the CD case blank.

Hang the personalized Christmas CD onto your tree or display with your other holiday decorations. Each year, as your decorate the tree, pop the CD or DVD into your television or computer and relive those Christmas memories.

Hanging the CD on your tree, instead of simply storing with other keepsakes, helps keep it visible so you remember to indulge in those viewings. Too often, we make digital photo shows or movies and forget to review them. When family members come over, you can grab the CD off your tree and have a fun, holiday get-together.

You can alter this gift for co-workers by making a slideshow of favorite photos and movies from the last working year together. Hang a personalized CD gift in each co-worker's cubicle or in front of their company mailbox. Mail CDs to distant family members and encourage them to display the home-made ornaments on their own trees, so they can enjoy your family's memories too. You could also use this idea for a non-Christmas gift. Make a decorate CD holder for end-of-season sports banquets and use them as name-cards or send home to parents with a thank-you note for their support throughout the season.
