How to Make a Musical Floral Hat Magnet Wedding Favor

Pam Parent
The musical floral hat magnet wedding favors are fun and pretty. These wedding favors will add a feminine touch to your wedding tables. These musical favors are a great choice for a wedding because they can be decorated to incorporate most wedding colors and themes. I like to choose tulle that is the color of the wedding I am designing. This detail will add a special touch to each wedding table setting. These wedding favors can also be personalized with self stick labels that have the name of the bride and groom printed on them. Place the label across the top, center of the musical hat wedding favor.

Supplies:

4" straw hat
White spray paint
Yard of thin tulle
Silk flowers matching wedding colors
Music button that plays the Wedding March
Magnet strip
Scissors
Glue gun and glue sticks

Directions:

1. Place a large tarp on the area where you will be painting the straw hats. In a well ventilated room, spray paint the straw hats white. Let dry. Both sides of the straw hat needs to be painted. I find it easiest to line up as many hats as needed with the brim side down, then paint and dry. I then flip over the hats and paint the underside white. Let dry, repeat. I find it often takes two coats of paint to completely cover the straw hats.

2. Depending on the size of tulle your working with, cut 1/2 inch strips that are approximately 18 inches in length. Glue this piece of tulle around the hat brim, then tie into a bow. Trim ends.

3. Glue silk flowers around the rim of the straw hat, and on the center of the tulle bow. This is also where the fun begins. I have made so many variations of this wedding favor to incorporate many wedding themes. I have glued mini seashells around the hat for a beach-themed wedding, crystals for an evening wedding, and faux mini birds for an outdoors wedding. The variations are endless, and it is a fun way to incorporate some kind of personalization to these musical hat magnet wedding favors.

4. Cut two 1/2 inch pieces from the magnet strip. Turn the floral hat over, then glue a magnet on each side of the hat.

5. Glue the musical button to the inside of the floral hat wedding favor.

The website www.bjcraftsupplies.com offers the music buttons for $1.95. The 4 inch straw hats can be found at www.factorydirectcraft.com.
